oh my Lord, based on 30 sec' clips, it sounds horrid and very Prince LITE!. Just praying that the full length versions of the 7 tracks i have'nt heard are good. Damn, knew I should've waited till Sunday!.

It's alright, but it's still something about some of the songs that irks me. I'm glad to see Prince is going back to his rock roots, playing his guitar chops more, but the songwriting on some of these songs is depressing. I guess Planet Earth will just have to grow on me a little more. I just put my one-day shipping order in for this album at Amazon.com!

I'm actually most impressed with Mr Goodnight. There's not enough variety for me , most of the stuff sound the same to me. I'm hoping it'll be different when I hear the cd all the way through.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Interesting. Planet Earth sounds really climatic. Chelsea Rodgers sound fucking awesome! And All The Midnites In The World sounds lovely... but I always was a sucker for Prince's sentimental side (bar Arms of Orion and Hold Me).

Not impressed at all.
I think the choice of excerpts is poor.
Maybe a chorus here, a guitar solo there, and a scream or instrumental bit.
But this seems as if they put sec 15 to 45 of every song on the net.
Still can't wait to here the full versions though.

His voice is really interesting on 'Somewhere Here On Earth'. It sounds like he's channelling Billie Holliday.

Thanks.

Most of those made me frown alittle but I'm still looking forward to getting this CD. I can see me playing the hell out of Chelsea Rodgers cool.

This doesn't bode well. I hate to get racial, but this is a very white sounding album.

I've been feeling the same way, and I've heard the entire album. There's some interesting stuff going on with it, but so far I agree with you.

I hate to get racial, but this is a very white sounding album.

As much as you "hate to get racial", I suspect most people here hate it even more. Too bad your vision and taste are so narrowly defined...

4 of the 10 tracks are straight up variations of popular "black" music. Old school 70s soul(SHOE), current R&B(FBM), Hip Hop/Rap(Mr. Goodnight-yikes!) and funk/disco (Chealsea Rodgers) are in there.

A lot of these tracks do sound like leftovers. However, I do like "Someone Here On Earth".
