anyone else this song (or at least the line) is older than we thing? Or is Prince intentionally trying to sound out of touch with the times.

how is he out of touch with the times, if he's speaking of this "digital age"? "you could just page me" sounds better than "you could just 2-way me" or "you could just email me" ... he prefers seeing the person face-to-face rather than communication through these new technological ways.

No one "pages" anymore. I understand the line as is but it could have been written 15-20 years ago for all we know. I think its a great line it just seems anachronistic and I wonder if its intentional or just an old lyric.

Maybe he still uses that verb for text messaging someone.

He did it for the rhyme and flow. "In this digital age you could just text me"? I didn't even question that one.
