There's Others Here With Us!

Has anyone ever heard this song? My mother has. She said it had this creepy vibe. Tell me anything you know about. I'm all eyes.

It's believed to be called 'Others Here With Us'.

It was recorded as part of Parade sessions and the outtake was leaked on early vinyl bootlegs.

It's difficult to compare it to anything that Pribce has released, but it has a rhythmic drum beat to it, with some eerie sound effects.

.
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Also, the melody is very similar to the verses of All the Midnights in the World off Planet Earth.

This is absolutely one of my favorite unreleased Prince songs ever. Along with "Witness 4 the Prosecution" and "A Place in Heaven". This one's got a really interesting Halloween vibe to it that I could see playing over the closing credits of the movie "The Others."

Its indeed a scary sounding song, especially while listening to a bootleg casette with a bad sound quality biggrin

The lyrics mention suicide (of Bobby Z's uncle), feeling possesed by evil spirits. And the music with the screams and shouts and the eerie-sound effects emphasis those dark lyrics.

I think Prince considered this song 'too personal' to release it officially.

To me it seems Prince is always kind of affraid to release songs that are more dark and deal with the subject of dealing with innerdemons. A shame, but some of his best unreleased gems are in this vein: the original version of Crystal Ball, People Without (from the Paard van Troje-bootleg) and this song.

Also the fact that did release Shockedelica as a b-side and (at first) withdrew the Black album, gives me the feeling that Prince is often censoring himself when it comes to releasing darker, more complex material, and too often tries to present himself by official releasing that 'fits' the image he wants us to see.

A pity IMO, but he is not always honest in that sense.
