Prince ring back tones at Verizon: why all live? OK I didn't listen to all of them, but the ones I"d be interested in from the 80's are all from a live concert.
What's the deal with that? 1. Why no acutal recordings (The clips themselves were poorly chosen: one of the Raspberry Beret ones has lots of banter) 2. What concert are these from? As far as I know, there is no official live version of this stuff available.

because prince has the composition copyright but not the recording copyright. Its the old masters issue.

So he can't license ringtones of the studio versions without WB's permission? (or he just doesn't want WB to get some royalties too?) Also, I thought WB no longer has his masters?? Thirdly, so P sold his live recordings as ringtones but won't release them to us on CD?

The ones you see on Verizon and other cell phone companies are snippets fromt he One Nite Alone Live cd. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
