BZZT wrong answer! You can actually understand Prince, I think it's more of a 'rhythmic speaking' type of thing. It's not grunting, spitting and yelling like rap.

I think it's the second best song on the album. It strangely reminds me of "I need love" by LL Cool J. hmmm

It's DEFINETELY more! And is, in fact, rythmic speaking (and not rap). If you can't tell the difference, that's on you!

And, for the record, I dig the song too! Everything doesn't have to be a masterpiece to be enjoyed. This is an example of just that...

And that's good on you! If something inspires you, that's all that really matters. Not anyone else's nutty thoughts.

But unfortunately if you read here long enough you'll notice that, and I'm sure that you already have, all songs are loved and all songs are hated by someone.

If "Mr. Goodnight" is truly inspiring to more than just a few people, that should become more clear in a few days or weeks, or even years.

I like the song right now, as I like "Exodus". But I'm not feeling the greatness from it at all; at least not yet.

However, and perhaps it's just me, some of these songs on "Planet Earth" are truly great.

Will it last? I don't know. But right now no one is capable of taking those feelings away from me.

I hear ya, except for the part about PE's greatness. I'm not even saying "Mr. G" is "great", but it's one of my faves from this disc. Sounds like "18 & Over". Probably everyone here hates that one to.

Holy crap. I leave for 3 days and this thread is on fire. Weird. While we're on the subject, here's a long list of songs I like that seem to be universally hated round' he-ah':

Silicon
S&M Groove
Sex Me, Sex Me Not
Life o the Party
Mr. Happy
Undisputed
What's My Name
Beautiful, Loved and Blessed
Get On The Boat
Prettyman
The Flow
The Daisy Chain
Funky Design
The Good Life
New Power Generation
Release It
dance On
Positivity
Feel Good
Judas Smile
I am the DJ
Jukebox with a Heartbeat

Maybe when I feel up to it, I'll make a list of "Classics" that I loathe, commit true blasphemy and invite real ridicule.

Well if we could just switch ears I'm sure that we would both be enlightened.

At least I would.

The problem is, I don't want to have everyone's ears, else I'll turn into one of those folks that says that all songs are equally good.

Goodness is essential, just as mediocrity and awfulness are -- but it doesn't fulfill me for very long (there's just too much greatness out there to enjoy elsewhere).

I need to be moved by music and nothing here has moved me yet, save perhaps "Positivity".

There are also tracks on here that I like (which is all you've been claiming from the get go). But, again, "like" doesn't pay the rent.

Damn edits!

I hear you, man. Music is a lot like Ice Cream, no? 31 flavors and such. Do you hate all those songs I listed? Fair enough. I hate "Empty Room", but Whwattayagonnado?

You can borrow my ears for a bit if you like, but I need them back, OK?

I understand EXACTLY what you're saying.

And I still enjoy "Mr. G.".

no apologies.

Yes it is. And I horribly worded those last 2 sentences, so it’s no wonder that live humans would be misguided.

The last two sentences should have been preceded by something that would have identified that I was only talking about your exclusive lists.

“Positivity” and the video mix of “Partyman” were the only two songs specifically from your list that have moved me. But this is only a “like” list for you. These two songs would mean a lot more than that to me.

“What’s My Name” and “Dance On” have been very good to me, as has “The Flow”. I like others on your list like “B, L & B” and “New Power Generation”.

“Get On The Boat” I think is good, but it comes off better to me live. And for fun I can get with “The Daisy Chain” and “Funky Design”.

The rest, I wouldn’t as of yet describe with positive words. And I think that “Empty Room” gets overrated here, partly because almost everyone can relate to its sadness. Now the title track to his latest album is how that song sounds when fully realized. Fantastic.

But I would rarely if ever use the word “hate” in relation to Prince music. If I choose that particular adjective, what’s left for people like the HerShe Boyz -- http://profile.myspace.co...=203060092 ?

But if people are using the word “hate” in relation only to Prince music that they love -- then, yes, there is a lot of music to me that is the polar opposite of his greatest works.

I don't think it's a bad song, musically. And even Prince's rapping style doesn't bother me.

The lyrics ruin it for me though. I'd like this song a lot better if not for the lyrics. Or even if he had just ended the song before he got into that bit about a "mouth full of Raisinettes" and watching Chocalat, it would have been tolerable.

This is my favorite song off the album. It definitely has that "One More Chance" (The Remix version) to it esp. the bass. Damn imagine Biggie aka "The King of NY" and Prince tearing up a track.
