I swear I've never seen so many spoiled fans ever. Some of you guys are looking for the Purple Era that was 23 years ago, some of U are lookng for the DIRTY MIND PRINCE Gosh! he is going on 50 it would be immature as hell to be cursing and grinding at age 50, besides us oldheads PRINCE is gaining a whole new generation of young kids. I can remember being 14 and first hearing PRINCE my first reaction was who was this weirdo but when I turn 17 I matured too his music. Some of us are still acting as if we are 17/18 and expect the old PRINCE well the OLD PRINCE is dead just like the OLD STEVIE, MICHAEL, MADONNA, and JANET, and who by the way will never sale like they sold in the PAST. Also what other artist has put out more albums then PRINCE if we were MJ fans, Madonna Fans we would be going insane. PE is another adventure and so far I'm digging it! Maybe he should retire and go away for five years or so maybe some of U would be happy and stop bitching!

Yeah but you may not want to hear Purple Rain but plenty of others do I remember going to the ONA concert in london you got the fans shouting for him to play Purple Rain, Did he play it Nope he didnt but he knows this is what fans want to hear so hes gotta satisfy that percentage of fans

agree...except the part about him retiring or going away for a bit. and he should always play Purple Rain

bitching about bitching is so tiring. instead of adding to the bitchy energy, why not just throw something positive out there and try to influence the bitchers to come along on that trip with you?

and by the way, i'm perfectly happy with whatever prince's whole deal is right now, but if he releases a song or does something i don't care for, i'm not gonna act like it's great because "that's what good fans do". by the same token, i'm not going to make those gripes the center of my attention, either.

I've been listening to the ONA Chicago show over the last couple of days and thinking about how nice and refreshing it was to hear him concentrate on his Rainbow Children material and some more obscure songs from his catalog instead of the normal 'Hits' concert. That tour is probably my favorite of all the ones I have on CD. Sure the majority of the fans probably came just to hear the hits, but I'm glad he forced them to listen to what he was doing at the time. Same with the Gold tour.

I'm pushin 40 ... music doesn't mean the same to me as it did when I was growing up ... I love a good new Prince song just as much as the next person, but the world will not end if he is not no. 1 on billboard or not no. 1 at the bank.... I'll do what I can to get 2 all the concerts, hell I'll probably spend more than I can really afford, but I'll enjoy myself and be glad I'm at the concert... and no matter what I hear on the net .. I'll buy the album anyways, i enjoy Prince music .. I could care less how he releases it, how he promotes it, etc.... I'll buy the album and listen to it anyways ... and it may not have 5 favorites on it, but it will be in my collection nonetheless. I enjoy the something on any album he puts out, everythings not always a favorite, I'm just satisfied there's new stuff .... too simple?

i agree with your sentiments. i'm relatively new to the org and its a great place to get information, and i've learned to use it for that reason. chime in here and there but MAN, some of these ppl (and its enuff of them to dominate the TONE of the org) are the whiningnest, bitchiest, ungrateful "fans" EVER.

I don't think he should retire but I do think he should take some time off. As far as people bitching, the only time I bitched is when he released Chaos & Disorder and Old Friends For Sale. Other than that, true fan till I die.

I agree with you.I really do.Its like Prince fans get excited over a new album just 2 diss it.Some people have only heard snippets of Planet Earth and they think its the most horrible thing theyve ever heard in their lives...is that b/c its not Purple Rain?Then some people amaze me by not hearing one single track but putting PE down and trying 2 start threads on what Prince should do next since PE is a lost cause.That amazes me.It really does.I try 2 ignore it but its really getting under my skin.I dont want him 2 retire because 2 be honest I dont think that would work.He would come back and people would still bitch about his music.He could go back 2 cursing and grinding on stage,speakers,amps,etc. and people would still bitch.But on the real,eff those fans.Im not saying you have 2 like everything Prince puts out but some people are so quick 2 hate it.They arent open anymore.I hope he doesnt feel he has 2 please those kinds of fans cause its impossible.They arent even fans.But IDK y tho its like this?Its like people dont even know what they want anymore...or have they ever?

I fail to see how having expectations based on past brilliance is somehow ridiculous for a fan. When I go see a Spielberg movie, I expect a great movie because he has proven to be able to do so. you think Spielberg would rather not let people down and would instead prefer to be regarded like Uwe Bol? I don't think so, and fans shouldn't be expected to simply be apathetic.
