My Review of Prince's 3121 Perfume 
First a little Perfume 101: Perfume is the most highly concentrated form of fragrance. To be termed a true or Real perfume, a fragrance must contain at least 15% perfume oil. A typical designer named perfume contains 22% essential oil compared with only 12% in an eau de parfum, 8% in an eau de toilette, 4% in a cologne and just 1% in a splash. The greater the concentration of perfume oil, the richer, the more sensuous and the longer-lasting the fragrance. Whereas an eau de toilette requires constant re-application throughout the day, the scent of a real perfume may be enjoyed for several hours. A true perfume has three notes, a TOP Note, a MIDDLE Note and a BASE Note. Lesser fragrances such as eau de toilettes may not have all these notes and even if they do, they will not last as long. The TOP Note- is the refreshing peak of the fragrance that you smell in the bottle or you perceive immediately after applying the fragrance to your skin. The Top Note generally lasts for only 10-15 minutes on your skin then it evaporates. The MIDDLE Note - is the second stage. It is the fragrance that combines with your body heat, skin chemistry and natural odor and acts as the bridge between the Top Note and the Base Note. The Middle note begins about 10-15 minutes after the perfume is applied and last for about 30 minutes. The BASE Note - is the final and longest lasting expression of a perfume and develops on the skin about 45 minutes after the perfume is applied. The Base Note reveals the true personality of a perfume and blends the Top Note and the Middle Note into a long-lasting scent that stays with you for several hours. 3121 Perfume is offered in eau de parfum and pure (Xquisite) perfume form. These 2 forms offer the highest possible percentage of perfume oil. I always opt for the latter, the pure perfume due to wanting my fragrance to last as long as possible each day. 3121 is a white floral scent that opens with a refreshing sparkle of crisp bergamot, opulent jasmine and gardenia. Orange flower and muguet sensually intertwine with tuberose and ylang ylang, creating a subtle, mysterious blend; evolving into notes of patchouli and creamy sandalwood. I could not wait to take it out of the package, pop off the lid and sniff the top note. It's opening (top note) was not at all as overwhelming as I had imagined. It was striking and as I sniffed it a couple more times before spraying it. I sensed what I call an "after smell", the smell that lingers within. I liked that a lot.
I then sprayed on the perfume on one wrist and waited a minute or so so that the warmth of my body "activated" the fragrance. Then I sprayed the other wrist and waited again. Then I rubbed them together. As that top note evaporated the middle note came and it was sweet, subtle and musky. I REALLY liked that. As the bottom note came around I knew it would linger for hours and it did exactly that. I smelled good for the rest of the day. I feel too that either a Man or Woman can wear this scent. I had my husband smell it on me and he did in fact like it. He only likes one other fragrance on me (Samsura) and when he liked the 3121, I was a little shocked but very appreciative  .
I must say, it is most definitely a romantic scent for evening use. I thought it could've been even more alluring, but it did evoke a warm feeling within me. Not everybody will enjoy it, but it is worth buying even if it is for your significant other. It would also be great if they came out with a 3121 Perfume scented soy-based candle. I am really hoping that they do. "

You should be able to get a mouilette sprayed with it and just shop around a bit smelling it every few minutes. If you like it spray some on you and let the warmth of your body activate it and then shop around a little more. You want to at least have reached the end of the middle note to be able to really tell if it fits you or not. Then if you really do like it buy it before leaving the store. OR you could order it online but I would suggest the miniature bottle of it before going for the larger $$ amount purchase. It is a cute little collectors bottle and the perfume is a light purple color too...I thought that was also a nice lil' extra.
I am not one for impulse buying and 3121 was the ONLY fragrance I ever bought without "testing" it first. I am glad I took a chance on it. :thumpsup: | |

I'm an 18 year old male and I LOVE this perfume. I bought the $50 bottle at Macy's last weekend when it first came out and have used most of the bottle.. I spray it everywhere! I simply love it. It is very very girly and flowery at first, I think thats the Gardenia scent coming through. I love how it evolves over time and changes, sometimes I can smell the "Play in the Sunshine" incense, sometimes I smell the flowery scents, and sometimes it's very musky and warm. It's an inviting, alluring scent and I feel comfortable wearing it as a guy.
I have one question though, what is the Xquisite Purse Spray? . [Edited 7/14/07 11:09am] | |

I really like the scent. It smells great on me.
I gave a sample to a friend who is not a Prince "fan". She called me today to say she tried the sample and likes it so she's gonna buy it. First non-fan that I know who wants to buy the fragrance.  To GOD be the Glory! | |

I just ordered a bottle - (the gift set) - from the web site. I ordered 'the truth' also. Interesting to see what that $77 crap smells like.
I still have a few bottles of get wild! I should spray it on my girlfriends pussy cat?? | |
