The Marvin Influence

Something I don't see written about often is the impact Marvin Gaye had on a young teenage Prince. Just check out this video of Marvin doing his classic "Got to Give it Up". The 11 minute plus live jam recorded on his "Live at the London Palladium" in 1977 had to be on young Prince's turntable. Without a doubt Marvin was a big influence on Prince's style, and in a particular his live sound to this day. I would love to hear what you gusy think about Marvin's influence on the teenage Prince?

Honestly I don't think it was that much, Prince was well on his way by the time Marvin got into the funky side of his career.
