Te amo corozon- horrid, sleep inducing
If I was your girlfriend- as others stated, totally killed the momentum of SOTT
The greatest romance-boring song, killed an already bad "Rave" cd

Got to agree with the consensus here:

Betcha Buh-Bye Golly Eww
Greatest Romance
Te Amo Corazon
Thieves in the Temple (not that it's so horrible, just not good single material)
Was Dolphin a single?

Betcha By Golly Wow was such a major let down. With all the slave publicity and name change crap at the time, he was always gonna get a lot of radio play. Betcha By Golly Wow got radio play, but surprise surprise, no one liked it. The song is pure shit. Nothing good about it at all, there were so many better options on emancipation. it ruined the whole experience for me too. In my eyes it was the start of a LARGE decline in his creativity, and has had to work hard ever since to get back to respectability..

Black Sweat (should have been Fury) and Guitar (should be FBM).

TMBGITW should have been Shhh.

You guys are trippin'. Betcha By Golly Wow is the jam.
No, I take it back, that was the FIRE.
That's not an easy song to execute cause The Stylistics (?) had their stamp on it, but Prince still put his foot in it.
It was perfect for 1996 because it was an old-school jam, but it still had a modern feel to it.

As for Shhhh. I like that song, but I always thought it has a generic proto-soul feel to it. TMBGITW always sounded more original to me.

His worst?

That has to be 'Space', one of the most flat, unspiring melodies he has ever written. And the bland music offer no redemption for that.

but a tie with 'Space' has to be 'The greatest romance ever told'.

I gringed when i saw him lipsynch that song on dutch television. It is so generic and bad it wouldnt even qualify for an R. Kelly B-side.

Betcha By...is okay, but it was by far the most anticlimactic single he's ever done.

I mean, the first single from his "ultimate album," the grand statement on freedom, is an iffy cover ballad?!

I was expecting something huge, crazy, funky, free, new...

I'm not trying to justify anything. Instead of trying to compare it to all of Prince's other work, why don't people just look at the merits of the single itself. There are some you know.

Probably the best track on the album, but completely un-radio friendly as a single. This one release stopped the album becoming the 20 million seller it could have been.

Definitely agree. "Housequake" would have burned up the clubs.
Ooh, little darlin' if you're
free 4 a couple of hours (Free 4 a couple of hours)

I forgot to mention "New Power Generation".....such a boring, silly song barf At the beginning of the 'Purple Rain' film,we see Prince kicking ass during the vibrant "Let's Go Crazy".In the sequel,he opens the film with the lifeless "New Power Generation"?!

IamtheDJ

It's gotta be "Betcha By Golly Wow"! Prince at last 2emancipates himself, talks about a new 36 track triple CD album and says his best music is yet to come..... He then launches with "BBGW" WTF!!!! I know it is not his strongest album but surely there was better than this???

His worst singles always seem to be the ones he chooses himself to release!!!
No child is bad from the beginning. They only imitate their atmosphere.
