Post From Okayplayer that sums up Prince hate on that board

I got this from Okayplayer.com. because the poster said what I have been thinking for sometime about some of the Prince Haters on Okayplayer.com.
Actually in the music community I think what Murph71 is saying applies as well.

You don't have to like P's music but, he really brings out the hatered in some people for the most insane reasons.

Well, I agree with most of everything you said except the
whole hip hop thing, but that's just me...

As for the Midget reference, I'm sure the homie Prince is not
crying about it...

Prince isn't immune to emotional pain, but he has to have some of the thickest skin of any human being on this planet... He knows what people say about him positive and otherwise but he is focused because he believes in what he does.. If only the rest of us could get to that point.. Everybody isn't gonna like everything thats just the way it goes. I am confident in my decision to continue to support P and thats all that really matters to me. neutral
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

I have been connected to the internet since 1996 and I am truly amazed at the reactions that Prince's albums seem to have. Every album release, EVERY album release since I have been on the world wide web has the same reaction.

"Prince's music seems forced."
"Prince has forgot how to write a good hook."
"Prince needs _____ to produce his albums."
"Prince needs to edit his songs better."

"Prince needs to get Wendy and Lisa back."

Then when the new album gets released it is a flame war between those who like the album and the ones that don't like the album.

Last thing that happens is 3 years after the album is released it becomes a neo classic. (TRC,COME,and TGE)

For starters guys, that post which is attributed to me, Murph, is really from Tricky99...I certainly agree with a lot of things that was said up top, but the bit about Prince being able to out spit hip hop artists is not one of them...LOL

But back to my point:

You have to understand something about Okayplayer...Most of the heads that belong to that site are Prince fans...That's just the truth of the matter, (Everyone knows?uestlove himself is a huge Prince follower...)

But as I've said a million times on that site, most of the true hate (because I don't call heartfelt criticism of his Prince's work"hate") comes from two camps: 1) People who are stuck in Prince's past '80s work and can't take anything as is or 2) folks reacting to the overwhelming praise Prince gets on Okayplayer...Now I find this rationale a bit weak-minded, but that's just me...It is what it is...

Starting? As much as I was happy to see the love and support for my boy in Minneapolis this weekend, I have to admit that between some of those fans and this site some psychological help is definitely needed. nuts

Okayplayer is an openly gay hip hop site, and that guy sounds like he have a big man crush on Prince. It's funny that people said hip hop would not embarce gays, but if you visit Okayplayer you will see that it is the site for gay hip hop and music discussion.

a lot of the animosity towards him, as suggested in the original post, is that he does not really conform (unless towards Moms and Dads smile ) towards the standards of many. Not black enough, not white enough, too loud, too soft, not this, not that...when in fact, he said it best:

"if u can describe it, then it ain't funky!"

Oh no Murph I didn't say Prince could out spit most rappers. That's insane lol. I meant the construction of the songs were more musical than most rap. I enjoy Prince rapping but I would never confuse him being a rapper per se.
