Why did Prince even hook up with SONY/BMG?
I know he needed them to distribute the CD to retail stores abroad, but if he hasn't promoted the upcoming release with any "Planet Earth" performances, then why didn't he just hook up with a national magazine in the states to allow fans and ppl of interest to either purchase the cd through "Rolling Stone" or some music magazine thats popular?

I'm a bit confused, atleast with 3121 he did promote by playing some good amount of songs off the cd.

So with a couple weeks left til the release of Planet Earth and I know it'll probably debut high on the charts because of word of mouth, the internet and the verizon wireless plug of the album and its first promotional single "Guitar", but seriously, no one knows in the main mainstream that an album is coming, like they did when he hooked up with SONG/BMG for Musicology!

So will there be any performances on Dave Letterman, Today Show, Good Morning America, Regis and Kelly etc, while he's in NYC this upcoming week for the Hamptons show in Long Island. I'm gonna be really bummed if Prince doesn't take this opportunity to plug the new album, so the rest of the earth can hear it like the millionsof us die hards in the states.

Shhh...Prince has everything under "control". Trust when I say, waking up in the morning and hearing a new "Prince" song live in front of an audience in NYC, will be more than enough promotion for "Planet Earth".

Prince doesn't want to over saturate the airwaves with publicity, he's gotten alot of great positive press since 2004 and with the superbowl performance, Prince hasn't been forgotten here in the states. Besides you know the dude, normally doesn't like to get out there and promote the product as much until its closer to that time and I'm sure that "we'll" be experiencing a live performance very soon on national t.v. before he jets off to London.

I think Prince is just getting around to promoting 3121.

Hell, if you go by the album packaging, he's still promoting the symbol name.
