... I've been away from a computer for a week or so, so please forgive me... BUT, are we reconciled with Prince using a right wing meida outlet to distribute his album in the UK? It's odd because the man who write Dear Mr Man also wrote Free - a Republican anthem if there ever was one... and, curiously, one written at a time when Prince would have been considered too.... gauche?... for right wing circles.

All this, 'Prince doesn't know about the Mails'' politics is shit. He should. He's now tarred with their brush. A blue-rinced, right wing politico who makes me feel a little full of vomit every time I think of the whole kit-caboodle.

is it possible, aside from choice of most distribution,
that P is making an environmental statement to those least likely to listen ?

If he'd given it away with the Guardian the irony would have been terrific... they're notoriously bad spellers too.

Maybe he should have packaged up with "The big issue" That way all the unsold cd's could be used by the sellers to make rudimentary huts and other lodgings

If not rudimentary huts or lodgings then it would have at least given them hours of cost-free frisby fun in the park.

I've read that The Mail has the largest distribution on Sundays, so that, along with the fact that they've done covermounts before probably were the deciding factors. Prince isn't endorsing the paper, he's USING it for distribution, how hard is that to comprehend?

However you dress it up, Prince is associating with a right-wing publication. In my opinion, as subjective as it is, that tars Prince by association. It's thoughtless and, if about units shifted as opposed to artistic integrity, merely emphasises how much Prince still sees numbers as relevant... which he publically maintains is 'never' the case.

Prince's 'use' of the Mail on Sunday as a conduit for his music properly upsets me... touchy leftie, possibly... heart bleeds... etc..., but this, in my eyes, is probably the lowest of many low actions Prince has performed.

high circulation + highest bid = Mail on Sunday

i'd guess.

and god knows what the hell Prince believes in from minute to minute, so expecting him to stand up for what he believes in is a little silly. rather, knowing whether he's standing up for what he believes in is silly. for this 5 minutes, they may represent exactly what he believes in. next week, it'll probably be some liberal rag. you never know. Prince sure as hell doesn't.

That's a really fair point. It's sad, but honest. I just find this whole action is leaving a sour taste in my mouth. The funny thing is, I'm not even in the UK. I won't have to decide whether to either swallow all the bile I own and purchase a copy of the paper for the album or wait until the CD becomes available in the stores. Peculiarly, however, this will be the only time my motehr and one of my brothers have owned a Prince album before I have... possibly two of my brothers. Odd.
