Songs w/Best Background Vocals

Was listening to Anotherloverholenyohead today and found myself thinking," what other P songs have such great background vox?"

Girls & Boys comes to mind somewhat, which ones would you all nominate?

forever in my life. i love those backing vox coming in before
the actual lyric.

i know it was done by mistake, something about starting those
tapes early at recording or something.

but it's probably my fav backing voc on any prince song. plus
i love all the revolution stuff since it just adds a lot of
debth when he uses other people on backingvox instead of just
layering his own vocals.

altho, Man O War, which has like 15 tracks of vocal layers by
prince himself sounds all the cooler for it.

another song that comes to mind, which most people will bark
at is "My Computer"

no one seems to hear her but i think the backingvox on that
track are absolutely stellar. just perfect. i could listen
to that all day.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

It seems that when Prince records all by himself, he puts more emphasis on the vocal arrangements. The whole Emancipation album, for instance, is full of inventive stuff.

On the other hand, tracks that he's made with a whole band (a lot during the 1992-1995 period, for instance) usually have much less and "simpler" background vocals.

i think i like it when others sing on the background vox best, or at least WITH prince.

Forever in my life is one of my faves off of SOTT, but the background vox on that track were more of a TECHNIQUE in how he used them per se. still great, but i "disqualify" it for that reason.

I'll have to give a listen to Lemon Crush and Elephants and Flowers, it's been a minute for both of them, same for My Computer. don't have NPS so the verdict will be out on Come On until i breakdown and cop NPS.

It must have been a Freudian mistake lol
as One kiss at a time has great background vox, too, imo

no need to hammer or chainsaw

Basically almost anything from around '88. I just loved the way Sheila, Cat, and Boni sounded together.

I agree completely with those who've said:

"Forever In My Life"
"7"
"Anotherloverholenyohead"

I'd like to add "Still Would Stand All Time," "The Same December," "Hide The Bone," "Strays of the World," and anything Jill Jones sang backing vocals on.
