What live tracks bit the dust when they became studio versions?

What Prince songs do you dig when played live but disliked once they turned into studio tracks?

The Ride
Gold
Days of Wild
Now

can you hear me now?...good.

I agree with Now. That was a great song live but was ruined and over produced by the time it arrived on the disc. As was much of the Gold album

Agree with the tracks you mention except Gold, I thought that sounded brilliant on the album too. Personally, I think If I Was Your Girlfriend sounds even better live.

Case of U is best live.. on the One Nite Alone-studio cd it sounds too polished I guess.

Gold: it's great on record, but it was really awesome hearing it for the 1st time live during the Gold tour in 95. Best moment of the Gold show actually..

PRETTYMAN!!!

The first time I heard this song was at the MillCity Festival right before "Rave" was released and I was really looking FOrward to it, since Prettyman was TIGHT at the show and on the album it didn't quite have the SAME feel to it. I did feel a little disapointed, but I also agree with "Days Of Wild" and "NOW"...might even say "Shhh".

But of all of em I have to go with "Prettyman"

Gotta be endorphine machine (lot of Gold references here). It was so raw live - just his guitar rippin up that great riff, but then they just threw everything at it in the studio - cowbells, synths, EVERYTHING. just doesn't work on the album.

"Days Of Wild" live was AMAZING back in '94, but I think the '93/'94 studio version killed all those live versions, mainly cos it got that dark, raw, held-back aggressive vibe...

Peach sounded WAY better on the Act 1 tour with the horns, the studio version fell flat for me. And of course Endorphinmachine bit the dust HARD when it was released. The cowbell and synth parts totally weakened this amazing rocker. (thank God I still have the original anyway!)
