Tough call, but my answer for today is 1999. One reason I feel it's his masterpiece is because it was his bold "breakthough" album. A double album filled with pop, funk, electronic music, soul, ballads and some very unusual and experimental stuff. It was, and still is, a bold statement from an artist who had yet to break through to superstar status.

Yeah, I know I said "bold" twice, but I feel it's appropriate.

As for me; Lovesexy is my favourite, but I'd be a fool if I didn't recognize that Sign o' the Times is the masterpiece.
