I think it's nice song, but certainly not as good as the other Parade songs, and the fact that it's placed between the best songs of the album (Mountains and Kiss) doesn't help. It should have been a B-side; Alexa de Paris would have been a better choice.

iain

It is parade tho', surely?

It's just flawless, from start to finish, from Christopher Tracy's Parade through the funky jazz pop of the first side, the beautiful Venus De Milo as an interlude before Mountains hits you, the perfect pop of Kiss and Anotherloverholenyohead, and the stunning fragility of Sometimes It Snows In April.

Just perfect, and a great one to listen to from start to finish.

Surely you jest. Though, "Parade" is in serious need of a guitar solo. I like the subtler touches. TRC is a mess, especially mix-wise. And, his thefts from Sly and Jimi diminish the overall work, IMO.

I used to skip it alot.

The first few times I heard it, I was thinking WTF? This is a stupid ass song. The little loungey sound, the wierd vocal treatment, the overly gay vibe. But after a few rotations, I started to think it had a smoothness to it. And then I started to picture Prince singing it directly to me, in a little french maid outfit, with his little doe eyes, his cute little perm, his soft, supple , full lips, his caramel tan skin, his fuzzy chest leading down to his nappy... erm.. where was I confuse Oh yeah, I like the song enough now. shrug

falloff falloff you stoopid. I fell in love with the song the first time I heard it. At first I thought the little french boy at the beginning was saying "If you fuck my mouth, will you suck on my dick..." lol But he's saying "the children who lie don't go to paradise" or something...It's fun to sing along to also.

Tough call, but my answer for today is 1999. One reason I feel it's his masterpiece is because it was his bold "breakthough" album. A double album filled with pop, funk, electronic music, soul, ballads and some very unusual and experimental stuff. It was, and still is, a bold statement from an artist who had yet to break through to superstar status.

Yeah, I know I said "bold" twice, but I feel it's appropriate.

Gawt-DAMMIT! He asked for the masterpiece, not masterpieces!

Swear ta god, ask an Orger if he prefers day or night, and he'll say, "I like morning, and evening, and afternoon, and that period between two and three a.m., and..."

Sorry, just had to rant there. boxed

As for me; Lovesexy is my favourite, but I'd be a fool if I didn't recognize that Sign o' the Times is the masterpiece.

2 hard 2 name one- hard 2 keep it to 3 or 4 even twocents
seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before music beret
