LOVESEXY I just love it when this happens!
My hubby and I have just bought a new house. As we're packing up our stuff, my hubby came across this case of old cassette tapes He took the case out to the garbage where I see it. I go over to it and pick out the Prince cassettes. My hubby says "Why are you doing that? You don't even have a cassette player anymore." "Au contrare!" I say, (and yep I said it just like that ) "I have a cassette player in my car!" One of the cassettes is LOVESEXY and I have been playing it over and over since then. I haven't listened to LOVESEXY in YEARS!!! I mean more than 5 years, maybe 10. How can I have NOT listened to this??? DANCE ON are you kidding me??? Like hearing it for the first time... Anyways, I've been 'in out on it for days now and I LOVE IT! That's all...just sayin'! I'm firmly planted in denial

Lovesexy is indeed a great album. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I honestly don't understand the Love for Lovesexy that goes on here. I think the whole thing is like a big old wheel of cheese. Glam Slam? ugh. Positivity? lame.
Ill say that Alphabet St., Dance On, Anna and Love Sexy, are solid songs, I just think the weight of his "new" religious notions burdens the album and ultimately brings it down. Really Anna is only great cause its so confusing lyrically and everyone reads so much into it depending on their own interpretation of prince at the time. And the production aged this album almost immediately. and i didn't mention when 2 r n love cause it was where it should have stayed. i love lovesexy ! it was the first prince cassette i ever got, i heard alphabet st on radio 1 and got it for my 12th birthday. I had to persuade my mum that it was ok for me to get it as she was concerned about the cover

@ Ur mom I adore LoveSEXY 2. It's 1 of my favourite Prince albums... probably the 3rd favourite

My Lovesexy Deluxe is ALMOST finished. I am still hunting down Delia Derbishire stuff to find out if the sample Prince used is rightly titled and I miss a good rip of BOTH sides of the Alphaber St 7".
Then I'm done. | |

It took me years before I got into 'Dance On', I just thought it was total filler, then bam, it hit me a few years ago, and now it's up there as one of my fav's.

Who's Delia Derbishire?

Today, July 4, I'm not a big fan of this album. Of course, the last time I listened to it (about a week ago), I enjoyed it quite a bit. This is one of those albums that from minute to minute, depending on when you ask me, I will have a wildly different opinion on.
I'm due up to listen to it at work tomorrow, so I suppose tomorrow I could absolutely love it and think it's one of his best albums ever. So you never know. But one thing you can count on is that I'll hate Dance On. Always have, always will. "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran

Thanks for the info; I had no idea the intro to Eye No had a sample on it. Thanks.

Then I'm done. If you're including tracks that are sampled on Lovesexy then you need Frank Zappa's "Our bizarre relationship", which is the source of the sample of the woman saying "bizarre" during the song "Lovesexy". [Edited 7/4/07 20:13pm]

I've always liked Lovesexy after I got used to it.
I have a tracked CD now. I always hated my old version with one track. Not so much because I couldn't sit through it, but because I couldn't repeat songs. Love Glam Slam, When 2 R in Love, and I Wish U Heaven. To a lesser extent I like Alphabet St, Lovesexy, Ana Stesia, Positivity. Eye No and Dance on are probably my least favorite, but I still like them.

You see, I did not even know that! Thanks! I just used this one cuz the intro sample is such an iconic one... I heard that sample live several times and it has got the power to invoke GOOD memories.

I always was bothered by the initial CD non-sequencing... Positivity is one of my faves on that album.
I do have both versions, but the über version is of course still the vinyl.
