I recieved some scary news today that my favorite Prince album is out-of-print. Why is Prince Ultimate out of print? It is a great CD. I have started seeing less and less of it at the stores. Finally I called two Best Buy stores and the first store told me that they don't carry it anymore. I asked why, but of course they didn't know. Then I called another, and they said that they stopped manfacturing it that it was labeled as "cut" or status "deleted" in their computer. I called another independent record store and they said it is not being manufactured. I am seriously upset. For I loved this album. I have my own copy but I think it should be available for all those to enjoy Prince music and the newbees. Does anyone know what's going on?

It was probably a limited edition type thing. Either that, or legal issues got in the way of the music being sold! Just speculating.

that's weird. maybe all the hassle prince gave WB was more trouble than it was worth to keep it in print.

regardless, i've seen it in a few wrecka stow used bins. it's not impossible to find. i bet you can find it used on amazon or gemm.com.

maybe the "out of print" disclaimer you saw was an outdated notification from when WB originally tried to release "ultimate" and prince cockblocked them because of some stipulation claiming its release would be competing with the release of '3121' at that time. it was ALMOST released and then yanked, then released again later in the year.

if it is out of print (which i don't think it is, best buy's let me down 8741 times, borders too) just check used/hole in the wall cd shops. they're a gold mine.

I just bought mine last week at FYE record store for $26.00 get on it!
