P's Body of Work and his take on women?

Think about P's body of work in how he sings to women and shows them in movies and videos.

1st think about his videos and lyrics. Examples

You have Irresistible B****, Sexy MF, Party Man, Gett Off, Cream, Lolita, the One U Want to See and more...

then you have opposite

And God Created Woman, The Most Beautiful Girl, Call My Name, Somewhere Here On Earth, Future Baby Mama and more...

Think about his movies and all female roles he created in
Purple Rain, Under the Cherry Moon, Graffiti Bridge

Looking at his body of work what do you see is Prince's mindset of women? This could be good convo 4 other boards too.

He's a sexist pig for real.

o.k not always a pig but DEFINATELY sees women below men

the women in subjection the chosen one; SAYS IT ALL!

He tells them what to wear and do; carmen, nona, vanity and mayte have all said this. Then there's what sinead o' connor said plus the jill jones rumuors. If everyone says the same thing there's obviously truth in it.

I think Prince takes on women at every available opportunity.

I don't think his earlier work was sexist, but post-Larry Graham/JW his view is very much sexist. When I listen to "FutureBabyMama" I'm ashamed to be a P fan. Back in the day his work had significant romance, fantasy, and a playful horniness. These days it's more about manipulation, subjugation and rationalizing screwing around on a girl that thinks she's in a monogamous relationship. If I hear about his "wealth" one more time in a song I'm gonna gag. I'm also sick of the songs about Mani. She played ya'...letitgo, P.

I'll give an honest answer: I don't know. I've thought about what his views could be before, in relation to his body of work, and in relation to his religion. Not just his faith now, but as it's always been.

well off hand I would definitely not include Future Baby Mama in the same category as those other ballads. Just the phrase "baby mama" alone has connotations that automatically distance it from the other 4 songs you listed. I actually just wrote this post at HQ about why I dislike that phrase because of how it relates to treatment of women.

as far as the overall topic, I'll have to think on it and will post my thoughts later.

first of all, we're talking about Mr. king Duality Himself evilking

alot of the songs mentioned alongside each other may reflect the

Typical Male saw 'Madonna/Whore' Complex:

... if you're good, then you must be like my Mama rose

... if you're bad, then let's get nasty together... batman

i think Future Baby Mama may reflect a present interest in having a child more than a partner/lover,

which could be viewed as narcissistic and/or anti-femininist, superman

though his musical prowess sure makes it sound like chick-candy kitty nonetheless
