Listening to just this right here could make a remarkable argument for his musical genius; especially if you’re not really down with the commercial versions.

In my opinion all of these versions are superior to the album versions, but on the album they would have mostly come across as self indulgent.

If you’re not listening to the album, you probably should be listening to these. You won’t believe how great this shit is until you hear it for yourself.

Do you have Housequake (7 Minutes MoQuake)? I only have it on vinyl so I have technically have yet to hear it. One last thing--I don't think We Can Funk & IICNTTPOYM are official extended versions/remixes (e.g. Prince done)...but I could be wrong.

Yeah, "We Can Funk" and "ICNTTPOYM" are definite cheats, but I think both versions are superior to what was released on album, so I threw them on the play list.

Believe it or not (and I wouldn't), these are all the tracks that have inspired me for many years, or in most cases, most of my life.

They are presented in roughly their chronological release order (or intended release order).

Upon first encounter a lot of this stuff sounded too cluttered, too different, too strange.

But with plenty of time these are all the non-album tracks that continually hit me hard upside the head (again and again).

I think "MNIP" is clearly better in it's shortened form. At least I find it a better listen when I'm separated from the album.

The difference with "Somebody's Somebody" is so slight as to wilt under absolutely any pressure, but right now I'm crazy enough to want the ultimate in tightness from this song.

Again, this is only when I'm listening on random to these songs.

The super long version of "America" (20 or 25 minutes) also is great but would come off as way to self indulgent here. I wish I could get my hands on an official 10-minute version of this track. That would be perfect for this song.

Over the years some tracks might be added, others might be deleted. Making the right adjustments hopefully comes with both wisdom and age. But it's pretty close or I wouldn't be posting it in a public forum.
