Need help making a Prince collection

Looking for a little help people.

I've got my girlfriend tickets for a Prince show in August, but she's not really into him. I've learnt that it's never good to push music onto someone, but she's asked me to lend her some of his stuff.

I'm thinking it'd be better to make an 80 minute compilation.

The only songs she's said she really likes so far is 'little red corvette' which means there's hope right..?

Anyone made any compilations for newcomers to Prince?

I would go more with the hits more than obscure tracks that fans are more likely to appreciate

I've had to make someone a beginners guide to Prince before. I found it easiest to stick to material that was released right up until about 89/ 90 (this was mainly because the person it was intended for was into guitar driven 'rockier' music, and although the stuff released right up until the present day can still be classed as guitar driven and rock, I just felt that the person would take more of a liking to the 80s material more). I also sidestepped of a lot of rap material like Gold Nigga and P Control because I guess I was tailoring the tape for the person's musical taste (but he has now broadened this and loves the Tony M rapping stuff just as much as the rock songs. He loves NPG and yells 'do that, do that, somebody' along with My Name Is Prince, haha).

Maybe if she likes 'Little Red Corvette' she would like other songs with a strong chorus that she could sing along to, for example 'Pop Life', 'I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man' and 'Glam Slam'. Hope this helps a bit!
Sounds like a real man to me...mind if I turn on the radio?

I would take a look at what other music she's into and then pick Prince's touch on it.
Beatles = Around the world in a day tracks
70's Funk = live Mutiny track
etc.

I know a lot of casual fans aren't into P singing falsetto (kiss). but you may get away with a recent live cut with the more complete instrumentation and lower singing octave.
And always take a chance or two. Next week is a 'homecoming' of sorts so give her some Minne staples
Albums to pick
Dirty Mind
Controversy
SOTT
Don't forget B sides
17 days
Irresistable Bitch

Shit maybe I'll make a new mix for myself smile

Yeah, that's not bad advice. Might put some of those ones in. Thanks
