Reviews of the first 3 Planet Earth songs

I'll get straight to the point, here's my review of the first songs from Planet Earth, feel free to add yours as well.

Guitar:
I LOVE the production of this song. Heavy thumping bass, cool 'live' drumming, P's vocals are fun & animated. The layered scream at the beginning is an instant classic. This is a feel-good song to blast in the car with the windows down. I don't like the change of lyrics from the original (Until then, U can go to ....), but I like the live band sound. This is what modern, 2007 era Prince sounds like, and I love it.

The One U Wanna C: Honestly, when I first heard this, I hated it. I sent my friend a text that said "dont like it. it's country." and I listened to it a few more times, still thinking I didn't like it. Then I realized that the whole time I was dissing it, my foot was tapping right along with it. This is VERY late Revolution sounding, I'm about 95% sure that W&L are on this track. Sounds like something from Dream Factory with it's retro sound. Less of a country flare than I first thought, the slap bass is cool, the handclaps are fun. This song gets stuck in my head a lot. My favorite part of this song is near the end when he gets a little falsetto, I like the change of pace in the vocals. Sounds like it should be played out of a jukebox.

Future Baby Mama: LINN DRUM. Combined with an electronic beat and minimal synth, this is a very early 80's sounding Prince song. I dig the falsetto, smooth as hell. My friends who say they "don't like this song" sing the chorus every time they hear it, you can't help but to sing along. I love the vocal layering, the production of this song is just fantastic. This is what he was trying to do with Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic's ballads but failed (a girl who I played it for started singing "The Sun, The Moon & Stars"). I like the reference to Manuela (calling her "Cinderella" in the song). Love the spoken word bit in the middle, very Prince sexy.

I would dig "Guitar" more if it had the original keyboard drums and the new guitars...It's cool, but not on the level of "The One U Wanna C" and "Future Baby Mama.." I'm just glad the old man is having fun again...Some damn good songwriting...

Don't know but someone around here said Wendy and/or Lisa are on The 1 U Wanna See. I'm pretty sure I hear Wendy.
On Topic:
Guitar- Nice guitar work. Nice lil' tune.
Future Baby Mama- Surprised me. Was expecting something more, well "expected".
And that's a good thing.

Sorry...

The 1 U Wanna See. Simple stuff and that's allright. Sounds natural and not forced. I'm sure repeated listenings will reap benefits.

To be Honest I've only heard FBM and T1UWS once so I need to obviously listen much more but first impressions are good.

i loved fbm and t1uws. t1uws is the most revolution sounding prince i heard in years. i thought guitar was ok but nothing special. it sounded more like a rehash of fury. i would have loved to hear some raunchy prince on that track.
