Despite being a good song, I also think it's interesting. Who would put a slapped bass into such a pop/rock/country song? I wouldn't want to compare it to older Prince tunes, either. Yeah, I'm looking forward to the album.

The catchiest, most radio-friendly song Prince has written in 15 years. Really like the arrangement and the chorus is sing-along ready. This CD might just be pretty wonderful.
Think "When U Were Mine" and "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man", instead of "Damned If I Do" and "So Far So Pleased". It belongs more with the first group. "If U wanna get creamy, I'm the one U wanna C"

murph said: All I know is the midget better hurry up and put "The One U Wanna C" out as a single along with "Future Baby Mama.." Just scrap "Guitar," a cool little song, but pales compared to the ladder songs I've mentioned...And Prince would be saavy to make two videos clips for these songs...And that's for real... I don't see both songs as singles. Especially The One U Wanna C won't work. For Prince Fans, it is a straight track, but for the masses, it is a typical prince song. A little bit strange. The Vocals, the sounds. It's not streamlined enough. [Edited 6/30/07 10:07am]

In the orgNote sent Sat Jun 30 2007 3:08am, you said: > Do you know where to find the new track? Hardly 'crying like a baby' to hear it. Wall's post aren't even worth reading. Can I have the track? Can I have it? Then the predictable response... let me see here... "Prince is desperate" "This song is the essence of average." "This song sucks." "I don't like this song." "Giving away his music is a desperate move." "Musicology wasn't a true success." "3121 had a #1 debut but wasn't a real success." Give it up already, dude. murph said: Wall said: Fair enough. But honestly, I wouldn't even call this a rock song. I'm not sure what everyone here thinks rock is, but a guitar solo does not qualify it for such in my book. This sounds very much like, to mash up two orgers perception of it, a mix between Bon Jovi and Shania Twain. Perhaps hearing it when its released will reveal more nuances and I do think its a well produced pop song, I just don't find it memorable at all. I listened to it twice and I have no desire to play it again. I even spun FBM three and a half times. I look forward to hearing more music from the album because I have nothing but the higest regard for Prince as an artist and musician but so far, I'm certainly not pleased with what I've heard. However, I'm also not too put off as I enjoyed a handful of cuts on Musicology and 3121 and wasn't expecting anything different on PE. [Edited 6/30/07 7:55am] Wall isn't here to give anything a chance. Read all of his posts. Every single one of them is negative or has some kind of hidden negativity. Every -post-. I dig what u are saying Wall...But I think you need to give this one a chance...This is the first time in a long time that I've listened to a Prince song that's not R&B inspired that made me smile...It's that fun...To me, this is the "cross-over superstar" Prince...This song shows that he is still more than capable of making a fresh yet overtly commercial song...It even has an element of quirkiness to it with its "steel guitar, country twang"...And I haven't heard that "Prince" in ages...(And BTW Wall, when I mean rock, I mean pop-rock, not "Bambi" rock...) [Edited 6/30/07 8:10am] "Don't you think one of the charms of marriage is that it makes deception a necessity for both parties?"

Thanks to you know who, just heard it....you rule and thanks.
I'm frankly floored that the early reviewers weren't loving this. It's hands-down the most fun song he's done in decades. I love the little uptick he does with his voice on his chorus, the handclaps, the bass, the backups. Pure pop heaven.

Couldn't care less myself, though. Well, I myself believe that Prince has never sounded as natural as he does on those two tracks...And judging from the airplay that "Future Baby Mama" has been receiving (What's interesting is its getting play on the younger aimed Urban super station and not just the adult contempoary stations like "Call My Name" was..) it seems like he has found his songwriting stroke again... I played both songs for some folks that like the Controversy-1999-Purple Rain eras and nothing else...And they dug both tracks...In fact they were surprised at how "young" Prince sounded...Don't sleep on those tracks...
