Wall said: Pop fluff. Whoever said it sounds like a Shania Twain song, I agree. A definite effort to make a pop hit for today's radio and I think it deserves to be a hit as its as good as anything being consumed right now. I'd rate So Far, So Pleased higher, which this sounds like the cousin of, if only because of the musical break in that track.
Safe, predictable, music, and more banal lyrics. The essence of average. 5/10 You were the one crying like a baby who "orgnoted" me to have the link. It's you who is so predictable.

Safe, predictable, music, and more banal lyrics. The essence of average. 5/10 I couldn't disagree more with u Wall...But first, let me say, in the past, I've somewhat agreed with your critiques of his past rock-pop efforts...The album version of "Fury" lacked fire and passion (It didn't approach the striking feel of his Saturday Night Live Version..)..."So Far So Pleased" was a cool little, fun song, but it seemed rushed and a little uneven...And "Guitar" is slowed down by overproduction and its polished feel...(The previous drums and sparse sound should have been kept and injected with those two-fisted guitars...) BUT! "The One U Wanna C" shows Prince's mastery of making catchy rock-pop songs that make you dance...This song shits on "So Far..." because of the fact that it comes off much more natural...To me, "The One U Wanna C" belongs in the same family as "Raspberry Beret," "Take Me With U," "ICNTTPOYM" and the like...Prince is having fun again...This is quite simply a strong, confident effort that as someone else said shows Prince not forcing the issue...He's not TRYING to be Prince...He IS Prince on this one... I've never said this before in my life Wall...But if you don't find yourself bobbing your head on this one, you may come off as a cat that you either a) just want to hear the Prince that made quirky, weird, leftfield music (And believe me Wall, that element is on Planet Earth...), forgetting that at his best, Prince was a master of the pop-rock-R&B hybrid song, massive hooks and all; or b) Nothing the man does will ever be sufficient enough for u as a fan...lol... To me this particular post may show that you are in the realm of (B)...

To me this particular post may show that you are in the realm of (B)... Fair enough. But honestly, I wouldn't even call this a rock song. I'm not sure what everyone here thinks rock is, but a guitar solo does not qualify it for such in my book. This sounds very much like, to mash up two orgers perception of it, a mix between Bon Jovi and Shania Twain. Perhaps hearing it when its released will reveal more nuances and I do think its a well produced pop song, I just don't find it memorable at all. I listened to it twice and I have no desire to play it again. I even spun FBM three and a half times. I look forward to hearing more music from the album because I have nothing but the higest regard for Prince as an artist and musician but so far, I'm certainly not pleased with what I've heard. However, I'm also not too put off as I enjoyed a handful of cuts on Musicology and 3121 and wasn't expecting anything different on PE. [Edited 6/30/07 7:55am] No hard feelings.

[Edited 6/30/07 8:10am] I ditto all that shit Murph just said. Yeah, I said it wasn't "forced", it's the best way to describe this song, he really does sound comfortable in his own skin on this and FBM, to my ear. By the way, this isn't hard rock, but it's more rock n roll in it's true form than most of the "rock" out there today. People forget (or just don't know) where rock n roll came from, go listen to some early rock and listen to this... Rock was more like black country music when it was born. [Edited 6/30/07 8:23am]

All I know is the midget better hurry up and put "The One U Wanna C" out as a single along with "Future Baby Mama.." Just scrap "Guitar," a cool little song, but pales compared to the ladder songs I've mentioned...And Prince would be saavy to make two videos clips for these songs...And that's for real...
