dont ya think? I was thinking When You Were Mine meets I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man funneled through a late Revolution-era sensibility. I'm feelin' that. Sprinkle it with a bit of "Teacher Teacher", filter it through "Play in the Sunshine" and mix with "Take Me With U" and you're getting close. But it's got its own thing going too, which I love.

Yeah, its funny because we were all hopping his cover of Best of You would show up on this album. But instead hes done a new song in that style of vocal head and shoulders better well, let's not get carried away. Best Of You is a wonderful song. This one gets by on its charisma and pop appeal. Raze said: Yeah, I do like it a lot. Just listened again. What impresses me most is that we've already heard 3 really solid songs from this album, and that doesn't even include the ones that people who've heard it are hyping up: Planet Earth, Somewhere Here On Earth, Chelsea Rogers, Lion Of Judah and Resolution.
So, I think this is going to be his best album in a very long time. Unless it falls apart in the middle of the disc and turns into the same sequencing mess that Rave, Musicology and 3121 are. I was thinking the same thing. The 3 we've heard have been mentioned as some of the most radio-friendly, obvious hits. The rest I'm guessing will have a lot more interesting twists and turns and be even more impressive. This will be a great record to tour behind.

Yeah, they're different creatures. But I would love if his studio version showed up somewhere, perhaps as a download at least.

Then again, if you're going to get carried away, this is as good as an excuse as any.. lol How the hell did he find his voice again?? This doesn't sound like the same Prince as anything he's done recently. It's obviously a new recording, I mean, it's fresh as much as it is old school sounding, but dang, where's this guy been! So I'm too lazy to look for stats, but is this one of the tracks that contains input from Wendy & Lisa?

I don't think anyone knows yet which tracks they're on. "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran

According to this reviewer's first impressions of the album the key word here is "inspired". And that "All The Midnights in the World" is classic Prince.

oh my god, ive been away all week and havent been able to get to a computer... im catching up with all the new posts... i am so psyched for this album! from what everyone says, it sounds like prince is relaxing a little bit rather making the albums sound so forced... i think its been a progression from musicology (very stiff) to 3121 (signs of life) to Planet Earth.. im hoping for a kick ass album .. oh and any leaks anyone wants to share with a die hard who is desperate to catch up!
thanks! | |

Push It Up!, 2gether and Emale are 3 of my favs. But theres so many others: One Kiss At A Time, Holy River, Saviour, Face Down, Rainbow Children, Black Sweat, Call My Name, Guitar, The Flow, Blue Light, TMBGITW, Glam slam, I Like It There, Dinner With Delores, Dolphin, Animal Kingdom, 1+1+1=3, Peace and Come On.

I see. Thanks, this sheds some light. I do happen to think that this song is better (easily) than every song on all of those. I did like "the one" and "everlasting now", but this is the best he's sounded since' '87, it's better in my view than anything on TGE and DAP. But, that's just me.

Hard to believe, especially with NPS, but ok. I mean..D&P and TGE are also 90s output. I really like his 90s work. So Future baby Mama is cool, cause it sounds like a TGE Track...

Pop fluff. Whoever said it sounds like a Shania Twain song, I agree. A definite effort to make a pop hit for today's radio and I think it deserves to be a hit as its as good as anything being consumed right now. I'd rate So Far, So Pleased higher, which this sounds like the cousin of, if only because of the musical break in that track.
Safe, predictable, music, and more banal lyrics. The essence of average. 5/10 No hard feelings.
