Sounds like it has a good beat and you can dance to it if you can actually listen to it.
I'll let you know as soon as I'm able to do that.

Those are the album versions. That may be what is being released but those are edited versions of these songs.

Well, I myself believe that Prince has never sounded as natural as he does on those two tracks...And judging from the airplay that "Future Baby Mama" has been receiving (What's interesting is its getting play on the younger aimed Urban super station and not just the adult contempoary stations like "Call My Name" was..) it seems like he has found his songwriting stroke again... I played both songs for some folks that like the Controversy-1999-Purple Rain eras and nothing else...And they dug both tracks...In fact they were surprised at how "young" Prince sounded...Don't sleep on those tracks... [Edited 6/30/07 11:56am] Murph, don't get me wrong, i like these tracks. I just wanted to say, that this is a sound that doesen't please a lot of people outside the community. We are prince fans. Most of us hear songs "with other ears" like the masses. "the one u wanna c" has nothing to do with contemporary chart sound. I don't care, btw. But...there is no chance, that this song will be a hit single. But i don't care too... If someone wants to hear contemporary music with charts appeal, he will pick other musicians..like Ian O'Brian-Docker here in germany e.g. [Edited 6/30/07 13:07pm] [Edited 6/30/07 13:09pm]

But...there is no chance, that this song will be a hit single. But i don't care too... I never said that about The One U Wanna C...I was referring to "Future Baby Mama" vs. "Call My Name" a song that got a lot of of play on Adult Contempoary R&B radio stations (and on the R&B charts) but little place else...Again, what's surprising is "Future Baby Mama" has been getting spins at younger Urban R&B/Hip Hop stations...Prince rarely gets play on those stations... As for "The One U Wanna C" that song is pure super station radio material; these are the same stations that play Fall out Boy, Justine Timberlake, Sheryl Underwood and T-Pain..."The One U Wanna C's" sound aims for more than just the "Prince community.." You saying its not going to be a hit is a little misleading (Radio has become so consolidated...Radio listeners calling in for request is just part of equation of how songs become hits...There's alot more variables than that...)...But I know one thing...The songs off of Prince's last two albums have never even gotten the amount of premiere spins on the pop-rock-urban format as "The One U Wanna C.." That within itself is a surprise... [Edited 6/30/07 13:35pm]

But I mean, appearance on few playlists on format-radio doesen't mean a hit to me. I understand your approach and respect your opinion. Black Sweat has been played often here in germany on radios btw, but it was not a hit single. Last hit single of Prince was "mbgitw" here. [Edited 6/30/07 13:41pm]

That's just the truth... As for whether or not "The One U Wanna C" can be hit, it has a strong chance if marketed right...That means a high profile video and some heavy promotions from Columbia...But that's another story...

I know he's not lit the charts up, but I'd be willing to wager that from Emancipation until 3121, he has way more plays for all the failed singles than this one song. No hard feelings.

I guess u didn't read my entire post...lol...I'm talking about the amount of times the song has been premiered and played on the super radio staions...His previous songs (Musicology, Call My Name, Black Sweat") were usually played on Urban/Adult Contempoary stations...However, "The One U Wanna C" is beginning to get some spins on top-pop-40 super stations...I haven't heard Prince on that format in ages...Now whether or not it will become a hit is another discussion...But it's the first song that I've heard in 15 years from Prince that can really take off radio-wise beyond the R&B stations... I think Prince heads should just sit back and not try to think so hard on this one...Take a deep breath Wall and just take it for what it is for once...lol

I don't know if anyone has pointed this out, since I'm not going to read the whole additional 200 or so posts that have shown up on this thread since I went to bed last night, but...
Does anyone think the groove of this song (the drums/bass) is very reminiscent of the Little Red Corvette dance remix? "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran

AWESOME! Great catchy pop diddy!
I am loving the direction for this CD! Loose, jammin' and in the true spirit of P! This is gonna be a great 4th and summer thanks to new fantastic music from P! [Edited 6/30/07 19:23pm] The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

As I wrote on another thread:
I finally heard it and it was definitely not what I expected, especially after having read the lyrics... Believe it or not, but I'm not feeling it. It's too monotonous and bubblegum pop for my taste. Never have I thought I would say something like that about a Prince song. Well, there's the first time for everything. It's not the Prince I am so fond of. I actually agree with the people here who find it weak and boring (I can't believe I'm saying this). BUT it definitely has the potential to grow on me and I can see it as a fun song for times when you just wanna be happy and dance!

Its not bad...and i don't think its a "hit"
as for radio station playing it...well come on..there a massive prince thing going on right now. hes hot, hes current, he gigging all over the place, hes in then news everywhere..... so if they have an exclusive of course they are gonna play. They probably prefer to play purple rain or cream though I bet the same happens here in the uk..before the free cd comes out with the daily mail, radio stations will get exclusives, lets see what the other songs sound like. to me,3121 was a commerical album, didn't do massive here though. so it needs to be mega commerical to be a hit in the UK. just my opinion of course. How, i'm gonna make that booty boom...step back, give a girl some room....OH
