The initial post: think about it for a second, Rick James never had a Pop Top 10,because Rick was too Funky and Pop couldn't handle the real Funk,but Prince stole Rick's concept and vibe and watered down the Funk,but had accesible vibe and ran with it. Prince was never that Funk,but He used Rick James as a Blue-Print as a ways to cross-over and He faked the funk and ran with it and got a push.we all know that without Rick then Prince wouldn't have had much of a career. but Prince got cross-over and got that Pop Pass.Super freak paved the way for Little Red corvette and cross-over. Rick always kept the Bass high in his Jams,Prince burried his Bass in his cuts for cross-Over radio.

That mistermaxxx guy used to post here on the org years ago. I don´t agree with him but I respect his opinions and appreciate his love for the funk and early to mid 80s soul.He used to be quite negative when he was here.
