Read your post to me and then apply it to you.The same applies to U . Do you know everyone or are you responding to the "people you know"? It is simply this: I easily found official census data as to how many Americans own personal computers. I gave you the links backing those numbers up. That's the info that I am responding to. Unlike you, I am not basing my opinion on "people I know". What you have responded to me with is 180 degrees from what the original post was about to begin with. I was in agreement to what your original post with a slight disagreement. Then you are calling me ignorant ?
WTF are you? I apologize for calling you ignorant. I still maintain that your claim that "most (35 to 50 year olds) don't have computers" is very inaccurate. I guess the word ignorant is a bit too harsh--again I apologize. However, you are fooling yourself if you think most 35-50 year olds don't have computers. More people than not have them in the USA--that's a proven fact. Get off the force for moment and chill. Consider yourself "checked". Checked? How late 80's early 90's of you "New Power slide...."

[Edited 6/29/07 8:25am] You can't put "numbers" on that but factually speaking Prince's original fan base should be about 35-50 and most older people don't have computers.Hell, from a money standpoint many poorer people don't have computers so they are going to get their music from the radio and/or CDs. 35 to 50 is "older people?" And they don't have computers?! Honey, I am at the upper end of that range and I not only have a computer, I'm on my second iPod and subscribe to XM Radio. Most of the people I know (and I know a lot of people) fit my profile, as well. My parents -- both of whom are in their 70s -- each have their own computer. Hell, my mother has an mp3 player! Granted, I live in one of the more "wired" cities in America. But I don't think my circle is all that different from most. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Lastly, you are incredibly inaccurate with your statement "poorer people don't have computers" so they get music from the radio or Cd's. If a person has enough money to have a radio/stereo or buy CD's you can bet they own a computer to download music for free. I am a teacher at a school that serves at risk and low income population. All of my students/kids have computers and better cell phones than me. Thanks for generalizing though.... Most Americans own a computer http://www.informationwee...10906S0010 http://wiki.answers.com/Q...a_computer http://www.census.gov/pop...puter.html [Edited 6/29/07 9:05am] I would hate to be a student in your class for you to be calling people "ignorant". I am a Prince fan who is 37 and been one every since 1999.Most people where I live in that age bracket do not own computers. I am a teacher in school where most students in the lower income brackets do not have computers.ALL of your kids have computers ??? I am glad to see that where you live the poor people are better off than they are here in Tennessee. I'm 52 and have a computer plus 3 ipods. My hubby is 67, and has had a computer since day one, for his businesses. Most hospitals now have computer charting, and staff are required to learn how to use one. (the ave age of a nurse is late 40's) Libraries have computers available for use for those who can't afford them.

I bet the parent that bought your computer is older than 35 If you think that people 35-50 don't own a computer you must be from another planet. But here on earth, people that are older than 35 invented computer -technology. love the one who is Love!

Here's the stats from the US Census Bureau. The latest is from 2003 and no doubt much higher today:
http://www.census.gov/pop...puter.html According to this report, 65.1% of those between the ages of 45-54, own a computer. This is a great read, as the stats are broken down by age groups, gender, income, race, married, single, children in household, education level, region etc..... By the way, the South has the lowest stat for computer ownership: 51.7%. [Edited 6/30/07 11:37am]

dumbass said: skywalker said: NEWSFLASH: pop radio and the record industry are both dead. Online music is the present and the future. Who cares how well Prince songs do on charts? It hasn't mattered for at least 14 years and it doesn't matter now... you're fooling yourself if you think charting doesn't matter to Prince. ----- Why would it matter if he has already been paid in advance for the record. Radio is dead why can't you see reality.

People since Skywalker and I have buried the hatchet let me re-phrase the statement.
I will stand by my original statement about computers and the over 35 crowd, but many more people are getting computers and more folks have more access to a computer than in the past. Fewer people in the south have computers and that's where I live.
