I've got an old bootleg cassette from the Parade tour. It's in San Francisco and Prince introduces Andre Cymone and the Revolution blow that song to another level. Prince helps out with the vocals though, Andree sounds like he's struggling.

One of my favourite tracks of that era. It has everything that we loved about Prince & The Revolution: funky rythm, power, weird guitar, Wendy & Lisa, screams, mystery ("dawn" and 1999 symbolism) etc.
The released Andre version is basically the outtake version with Andre on main vocals. The outtake Prince & the Recolution version is of course longer, and even more impressive + powerful.

I agree that this track still rocks.

Good morning children
Take a look out your window
Our world is falling
It's almost time 2 go

Dance the Dance Electric
The rhythm is love and love is blind
Love your enemies
There isn't much time, there isn't much time

It should have been officially videotaped but I think that Andre was at the famous Parade birthday concert in Detroit, for me it's one of his funkiest jams ever, with Good Love.

Yes. I've praised this song many times on here in the past. One of my faves from P. I dig Andre's version, BUT I do prefer P's. And you're right funkystuff, it does evoke a 1999 AND Purple Rain vibe. "Dance the Dance, Electric" (from God). I've written threads also concerning this song rumored to have been part of the "in between" album in 1983. The album P himself had mentioned in his first Rolling Stone interview in 85. The album between 1999 and Purple Rain. It was actually printed in Black Beat magazine in early 84, before Purple Rain, that there was to be a new album by Prince. Dance Electric was the first title mentioned. I KNOW that it was said that P recorded the song at a later date. Yeah, Andre's vocals were recorded then. But I believe the song dated further back. It's no telling when P actually records his material. Let alone writes them. Especially back then, when he recorded so fast and so much. I would have LOVED for P to have released this as his follow up to Purple Rain instead of ATWIAD. The Dance Electric being the title of his album. Still kept his 1999 image and definately not have gotten rid of his hair. He could have lost the almost clownish Paisley outfits from the Purple Rain tour, but man, if he had this cut along with "She's Always In My Hair" released as singles....bangin'.

It's one of the many songs I think Prince should have not gave away. It's great 2 hear, it's a purple classic. It's another great original version sitting in the vault. It's a shame that Prince never'd released it originally. From that intro, the extended parts, and even the ending it great.

I lve this song, Pure Revolution sound I'd love hm to revisit, the 11 minute version is probably myfvorite outtake, if only I had it in better sound quality.

I always thught this would have made a great name for an album especially in 1985. Imagine if h decided to put out analbum from the vault called the Dace Electric.

Prince And The Revolution

The Dance Electric

Our Destiny
Roadhouse Garden
Love And Sex
Traffic Jam
All Day All Night
Electric Intercourse
Possessed
Wondeful Ass

In my old apartment, I had a strobe light, and when that part of the song came on I would turn on the light and fag-out to the music. It was like being in a rave. Try it sometime! If you don't have a strobe light, just have somebody flick the lightswitch on and off.

Would pay just about anything for remastered versions of all of those incredible tracks. NOT RE-RECORDED, remastered.

i never knew P did a version of Dance Electric, let alone an extended version.

Don't recall when the last time was that I listened to the Prince version of this cut.
Got Andre's AC lp a couple of weeks ago... this song is just too damn eighties sounding...
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
