- Meshell Ndegeocello (Vox/Bass)

- Raphael Saadiq (Vox/Axe)

- D'Angelo (Vox/Keys)

- Maceo Parker (Jazz/Funk Sax)

- Eric Leeds (Woodwind/Brass)

- Matthew Blistan - (Trumpet)

- ?uestlove (Drums)

The Voices/Backing Voices:

- Erykah Badu

-- 1st album called = "Sould Out"

-- They then do a 3rd album and release it strictly on the net and call it "Vaseline & Record Companies"

...Nuff said.

Dig it. The Line up is rough.

I think for a studio project (not a tour or live performance), I'd like to see Prince collaborate with Nuno Bettencourt, Tori Amos, Steven Tyler/Joe Perry, Butch Walker, David Bowie, Nikka Costa, Pink, Beck, Stevie Wonder and Sly Stone.

Not all on the same track of course...just different collaborators on each song.
If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.

Travelling Wilburys consisted of Orbison, George Harrison, Bob Dylan , Geoff Lynne (of ELO), and Tom Petty. They released 2 records that have just been re-released (Volumes 1 and 3!). I think they initially worked on a Bside for Petty, but ended up recording 2 releases together.

If Prince were to form his own travelling wilburys, who would you like to see it include? Be creative and don't just say Morris Day or other associates. (unless you want)

Beck and Trent Reznor.

I forgot to add my coinciding Guest Rappers:

Common
Mos Def
Pharoah Monche
Black Thought
Talib Kweli
Q-Tip
Dave/Trugoy
Jazzy Jeff as their DJ

And they'd form a super rap group called CBHBP = ConsciousBoHoBackPackers.....they'd also serve as the opening act

And you don't think I know that? ...
If you'd be so kind as to take a look at the title of the thread and the forum this was posted in. 'If Prince Were To Form A Supergroup', kinda seems like we should include Prince in the line-up, dontcha think? smile
Oh and, just because Prince is not as funky as he used to be don't mean that my imaginary group should consist of unfunky fakeass wannabe neo-soul acts.

Personally thinks the ones who try to keep Prince in the 'funk domain', dont do him justice.

The funk might be his 'starting point', but IMO he really reached real greatness when he did found out he could use that knowdledge to incorporate all elements into it: wether it were psychedelic pop-melodies delivered by Wendy and Lisa, meandering orchestrations by Clare Fisher, or a new found sense of soberness and reality in the sparse, demo-like tracks on Sign of the Times.

In other words: Prince created his own, delicious, innovative branche of (electro)funk-rock between 1981 and 1984, but he really did shine and was almost untouchable in the period 1985 - 1987, when he seemed open enough to let other people move into his musical 'terrority'. They did ad more depth and ambiguity to his music, turning him from a very good artist to a classic one.
