Agreed! I was originally thinking Jimi, but then I read your response. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

I just want to see a dueling guitars match between Prince and Santana. That's all I want. I don't think I'm asking for too much. Am I? No, of course I'm not. Prince and Santana, dueling guitars.

P could tear up the guitar work on any Reeves Gabrels solo laden funk number. I'm just trying to imagine either singing the other's songs: Bowie sings Purple Rain? Prince sings a funk rendition of Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes? They're professional - i'm sure they could make it work... hmmmmm, tho to be honest, I can't see Bowie's vocal register translating onto any P songs convincingly. Not like Ian Dury could perform 'The Sex Of It' like it was one of his own songs and he was still alive... In conclusion: Prince and Ian Dury (deceased)

That would be an Interesting Setlist. They could trade off singing favorite songs from each of their catalogues. Sounds like a Pay Per View Special in the works. [Edited 6/26/07 16:16pm]

Okay, I think it would be awesome if you had P-Funk land the MotherShip with as many OG Funkateers as possible.
You gotta have Clinton, Bootsy and Worrel. Secondly, you could have a surprise guest Funkateer, Sly Stone. Finally after P-Funk and Sly have done their thang...Prince could do his! P-Funk and Prince my double bill choice funkin 4 peace

In conclusion: Prince and Ian Dury (deceased) prince could rock just about anything from the 'young americans' album, but hearing prince croon "WIN" would allow me to die a very happy man. i can't think of any prince songs that bowie could do justice to ('sign'o'the times', maybe?), but i CAN see him having a great time playing sax while prince does his thing.

In my post, I had similiar ideas as you. It's a Bowie Fan thing. Some non Bowie fans wouldn't understand the possiblities. [Edited 6/26/07 21:52pm]

Not exactly a double bill but the Soul Generals are reported to be hitting the road with multiple singers to cover James Brown's vocals. They don't want to profane the Godfather's memory by having a single vocalist to take his place- too early.
But Damn, bringing Prince out for an extended set would be freakin' awesome. I actually wrote Maceo about the idea but I never heard back. He would be da man to broker the deal if it was gonna happen. Ok, if I can't have that dream then maybe Joan Osborne singing with the Funk Brothers. Or Annie Lennox.
