Based on 4 songs and early reviews, what are your 'hopes' for Planet Earth?

So far i have heard Guitar, Future Baby Mama and The One U wanna C.

Next to that i have read positive reviews of the live version of Somewhere on Earth, and the early reviewers seem to agree that at least Planet Earth and Chelsea Rodgers are great tracks.

At this moment i must say i am mildly positive about Planet Earth, more positive then i thougt i would be.

I have the idea that this new album is a mixed bag / a collection of different styles just like Musicology and 3121 were.

Based on the three songs i hear so far, my first impressions are better then the ones i had with the songs i heard before 3121 was released (apart from the SNL-version of Fury, but that one turned out to be a 'stinker' on the album).

Prince sounds like he had more fun while he recorded these 3 songs, he sounds a bit more inspired, and fresh. It also seems like he is giving more attention to the arrangements on Planet Earth. A big complaint of me when it comes to the songs on Musicology and 3121 is that the arrangements are often to simple and boring.
On Future Baby Mama i hear some nice touches of organ and guitar, and it also sounds like he has put quite some care in the arrangement of the background vocals. Guitar and The One U wanna C both sound more spirited and energetic then the comparable pop / rock tracks on Musicology and 3121 (Cinnamon Girl and Fury).

Next to that i havent heard Planet Earth and Chelsea Rodgers yet, and the reviews of these songs really sound promising. I am especially looking out for the title track, because i love the more experimental, more progressive "Prince".

To sum it op: i have a unexpectedly positive feeling about this new album. I dont expect a New 'Sign' or a new 'Parade', not even a new Gold Experience, but i think Planet Earth will be a step forward from 3121.
