DISCLAIMER: On Prince's 80s album are the drums mainly programmed or are they in fact live triggers being played by a real drummer? Thank u.

No really, can somebody tell me about the drumming on many of the 80s tracks, for example much of SOTT? Are these triggers or just programmed beats?

they are programmed. Many of the guitar jams featur the same old beat going over and over. Sometimes the tune even pitched up and turned down (only one would be a guitar jam of Erotic City VERY RARE)

The movie Purple Rain did show Bobby Z playing the drums in the songs, so it probably goes both ways.

I mean who could possibly keep on going on sometime not live doin gthe same old beat in the same sense? like Ballad Of Dorthy Parker or 777-9311???
