If not, let me remind you that the album was repeatedly labeled "a disaster," "unlistenable" and "the worst thing Prince has ever recorded." The online Prince community was in complete meltdown.

Of course, today, a sizable number of fans say TRC is among Prince's very best work and it's all over those "what are your favorite P albums" threads. The moral of this story: wait to hear "Planet Earth" for yourself — and then listen to it a few times — before drawing any conclusions about its merits.

PS: I'm also reminded of Kurt Loder's review of "Purple Rain" in Rolling Stone, in which he commented that the album probably wouldn't match the commercial impact of "1999."

I tend to stay away from tracks that get all HYPED up like a chelsea rodgers, i have a feeling it will be one of my least favorite tracks on the record for some reason. Im also glad that Prince is cutting the song times down, he on occasion has a habit of ruining a GREAT song with an unecessary solo, case in point "The Holy River" amazing song, should have been cut down, that added part at the end of it on the album is one of the worst things ever and ruined the song, which is why i cant listen to the album version. I like Prince jamming, but in concert. Im anxious for this record mainly from what im hearing from others, i like the fact that CHAOS has come up alot in reviews, this is an album that to me was one of his best, but is almost hated by everyone, and i have never seen a good review for it in print, and i have seen some ZERO's in print for it, including the NY daily news when Jim Farber gave him a Zero for it, and then 4 months later gave Emancipation five stars, and i was like, dude are u smoking!

There are many myths about the french people, here in europe too. I have never been to france, but the french people I met here in copenhagen are very nice. they dont speak good english tho !!! but that isnt important at all. Most american dont speak OTHER than american too.. so !!! chill out people, prince is all about unity

I actually had a very different experience and tell people that. Maybe because I actually attempted to speak French when I was there, people appreciated the effort. Okay folks...I've heard the album...And let me just go straight into it...I likes...An intersting album from the standpoint that it sounds like it was recorded in one week...Very focused...All in all this is a a rock album...The guitars and vocals are very striking...And no, it aint even on a religious kick...Its a very loose sounding album for the most part...And guys, the copy of Planet Earth is mine and I'll do with it whatever I like. Very funky indeed...But the funk is more late '70s funk than the '80s Prince-funk some of yall are clamoring for...It's like Prince was listening to "Just As Long As were Together" and "Sexy Dancer" and decided to take that classic funk disco feel and make it even more funky...The horns are killer...And that Shelby chick is doing some Mavis staples howling...Very strong track...

I take the time to translate a review for all non french speakers and that's how I'm thanked...with stupid and ignorant comments (thank God by a tiny minority of orgers !).
