if you don't care for other peoples opinions in regards to Prince, there is no need to be grateful for the review. seems like an awfully big and blatant contradiction if you ask me. you don't thank someone for something you don't appreciate, and you don't appreciate something you don't care about.

I assume he is grateful for the original poster's effort more so than the article.

Chelsea Rodgers
Great tune : disco rythm, in duet with an unknown soul diva, some great Prince on this tune , commercial and unique at the same time ! It is a massive hit that will make you dance throughout the summer, fall and winter, depending on when it will be released. because it must be otherwise all the djs in the world are going to hijack it. It is not a very brillant tune but so evily effecient. Some more ! Some more ! What a contrast with the previous song !

I have to say, I'm totally psyched about this album even MORE now.

THINK ABOUT IT:

Planet Earth:

* changes quickly to a mid tempo rock based tune with a bass/guitar put forward
* dynamic and adventurous
* quicker part then another break with the melody from the intro
* very good guitar solo

The One U Wanna C

* weird and surprising arrangements
* you can dance to it
* a party tune but in a rock manner, like Play in the Sunshine

Mr. Goodnight
* very weird tune
* rap style with a very low voice
* chorus is sung by women
* ends up abruptly with Prince saying "turn off the lights"

Chelsea Rodgers

* disco rythm
* commercial and unique at the same time
* a massive hit that will make you dance
* evily effecient

Lion of Judah
* starts with some rock guitar
* good beat
* changes into some mid tempo pop song with choir.
* Chaos & Disorder/Musicology
* ends up with a good guitar solo.

There's at least 4 songs that sound AWESOME

[about all The Midnights In The World]
I have two more reviews now so that's 5 in total now. They all say it is one of the worst Prince tunes EVER. They even thought it was some kind of joke.
lol

Every album needs a clunker. We all love to have a track to complain about, like Life O' The Party, Wedding Feast, Jughead... The list goes on biggrin

Agree 100% - where would we be without our Courtin Time, Orgasm, Hot wit u etc...

I've just got a sneaky feeling that we are going to love this album!! After the disappointment of 3121 (IMO) I'm sure as hell ready for it!

Seriously, though. People keep ragging on this song like a bunch of "Jugheads". Get your heads together, people. I mean, judging this for what it isn't is like judging "Cloreen Baconskin" for what it is (The "TRUE" prelude to "Irresistible Bitch").

So we should bow down at his feet and say everything is a masterpiece when it is clearly a self indulgent track which is well below par????

Sometimes I can't understand statements here.

What i wanna say: these reviews are nor bad. Ok, atmitw seems to be weak. Okay. And perhaps 4 ballads on a 10 Track record are much. But they say good things about a lot of these tracks. So these reviews are not bad.

No, no, no! By all means, no! I am not one of those people who are partial to "Prince" on every little element of this cat, musically, but, I don't know. I mean, it may be self-indulgent, but it couldn't be seen as one of the worst that he has ever done. Hell, I see it as sort of a fitting end to "Come", which in itself, holds the impractically and implicatively personal theme, overall. So, when you think about it, if you want to knock "Prince" for being indulgent on that song, then you might as well hate the whole "Come" album, as a whole. That's all I am saying. I, for one, like the distorted guitar riffs, though they sound as if they had been ripped from somewhere within the "Controversy" album.

I hear you farrahmoan, I just get frustrated when poor tracks take up album time when we all know he has far stronger material. It's his call and if it's an artistic statement he's making then who am I to question? I just probably won't like it!

Anyway, back to the thread - I hope the new album rocks, i've got tickets for 5 shows at the O2 so hoping to be blown away!

How dare you? FYI, this person looks like someone who's not afraid to succumb to other's opinions and is confident in her OWN self. What's sad is that you're probably the opposite.

conclusion :
Pretty energetic album (3121 seems pretty flat compared to this album),homogeneous in terms of production but it lacks from memorable hits and it is a bit too much pop/rock oriented. One only funk tune with Chelsea Rodgers. Good balLads, not boring. But one or two titles are very bordeline and despite their energy, they just don't fit.
[Edited 6/25/07 6:20am]

considering I loved 3121 infinitely more than suckology, I'm actually excited about this nod

I picked the most positive one. The other ones (there are more now) are really not good and describe a succession of flat little pop tunes. But mind you, they've just listened to the cd once.
For instance, the more I listen to Guitar, the more I love this tune. I often find more and more depth to some Prince tunes that look simplistic in the first place.
