Prince also lost one of his sister's back last October, but this is a part of life.. we all have to experience death .. just had a death in my family back in March and I can run my list.. it's not a curse..

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the tragedies that struck Prince's entourage/band members :
1990- Charles Huntsberry,P's bodyguard died of heart failure
1990-1991 Sheila E gravely ill
1996- Prince's son,Gregory born with Pfeiffer syndrome, died
1996-Wendy's brother died of drug overdose
2004-Lisa's brother died of enlarged heart condition
2004-John Blackwell's daughter died drowning in family's pool

Coincidences? Are there more? Might explain why Prince's found refuge in his faith...
Cursed is a bad choice of words yael. Especially in Sheila E's case because she seems to be doing fine right now.

I think yeal72 is hinting at something else was at work here. I think that he's saying that P was into some occult type shit at that time and that was the cause of these deaths. Can't say that I connect this to that cuz like all of u who had posted already stated, death is part of life. What I have noticed though is the exact opposite thing. Many who have worked with P during this rumored "occult" period, all booked from P and turned to God and became Christians. Dez, who had ALREADY became a Christian during the Dirty Mind Tour (how in the world he was able to keep playing with P's totally secular music is a mystery to me) Not to mention the use of God's name a lot during the period. The most famous one; {Let's Pretend We're Married) "I'm in love with God, cuz he's the only way. Cuz u and I know we gotta die some day. U think I'm crazy, u're probably right, but I'm gonna have fun every motherfucking night." Wow! Dez must have had a fit! And then yet again. "If u like 2 fight, u're a double drag fool. I'm going to another life (heaven?) How bout u?" Dez, Big Chick, Vanity, all 3 who were very close to P during this time, all went straight to God. Which is beautiful. But THAT'S something that I've noticed.

When Considering recent turn of events and the past in respect to PRN's life, it does dictate a path of destruction interrelated to the occult. All that has happen is not a coincidence. Some may say its similar to Led Zeppelin and when one crosses that bridge there's a price to pay. And for those that have found their way back to salvation, their on a good path and the path distruction is broken.

Right. Like I stated already, death is part of the deal when you're born. They go hand and hand. I just always found it interesting that many who have previously worked very closely to P, went ahead and became Christians. Like I also said, that fact may not even have anything to do with P

The man is not cursed he is blessed!

If you think those are curses my life is really bad!

I had two uncles that committed suicide
My paternal Grandmother disappeared when she was 23
I could go on.....

Thanks for bringing me down!

I don't go for the occult thing and P throwing around the "G" word. If you look at the list of people who died from the P group, that's no smaller than any other rock band's, mine musician friends and my husband's. Half of my husband's band from the early 80s is dead from drugs, accidents, violence, because flat out, we were out of control back then. My friends who still happen to be around, sometimes we sit and wonder that things didn't turn out worse than they did for us. The way people were doing cocaine in the 80s, it's no wonder a lot of these musicians are dropping dead in their late 40s and 50s because it damages your heart. Look how many musicians have suffered terrible tragedies right when their career was getting started. My friend, Melanie Thornton from LaBouche, I still haven't gotten over that. She left LaBouche and went solo, had a signed a big deal with Coca Cola in Europe and was right about to release her debut solo album. She died in that Swiss Air crash in Zurich on Saturday night, her album was due to be released on Tuesday and of all the messed up shite, her album was called "Ready to Fly." She was a very religious person and she wasn't into drugs or crazy stuff, heck I was way wilder than she was.

Shit just happens and when you have a wide circle of friends, the higher chances you have that you will experience more tragedies. I have a friend that isn't into music, just lives a normal life and this chick is always going to funerals for somebody's mom, cousin, boyfriend, friend, her mom died, her dad a few years later, all her boyfriends have been either drug addicts or abusive, if anyone was cursed, I'd think it was her. Bad ju ju.

Curses..hmm... It is amazing the amount of death that surrounds certain musicians and their offspring, it's uncanny. Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Vince Neil kids die..just off the top of my head. All the plane crashes, Ricky Nelson, Lynryd Skynrd (however ya spell it), Stevie Ray Vaughn, all the substance abuse deaths... Biblically you can curse your family. But sometimes I wonder if God decided it's time take these people sooner..perhaps they no longer fit in the world... so caught up in their spiritual creativity, that is, if you believe the music/inspiration comes from a higher place. Commercially they were in the world but as per example Prince, I believe he's very different from the most of society, psych makeup anyway, a misfit, a rebel, escaping in his own inspirations. Just some ponderings... I don't know about his entourage being cursed, but as far as it specifically surrounding past musicians, yeah I'd say something's going on.

To put it mildly, dealing wih musicians in the past, yeah,..something has been going on. I've have books dealing on this very thing u touched on in your post. We as musicians, and folks that hang with people who create music, I feel, have to be careful. Music is the most powerful thing that can be created by man, that exists on this earth. If u have the gift to create music, then it is just that, a gift. How u use it, of course, is up to u. But it is God given. Now, I'm not going to get into somethings on here, cuz this definately is not the place. But, I will say this, when you're blessed to use your music to do whatever it's going to do for people; encourage, bring enjoyment and pleasure, or thought provoking or wonderment and mystery, sadness or joy, whatever, a force will follow u and u MUST not only be aware of it, but u must guard yourself against it. This force is not your friend, but it's simply there to destroy u. To put an end to whatever it is you've been blessed to do. This exist in everyday life, not just musicians. But because music has the impact that it does on this earth, it does attract a little mo' attention. In this business, we may travel in airplanes more than others, travel in cars and buses more tha others. Whatever. If you're thankful and pray to God, then you're certainly on the right road. That alone will protect from many things. but u must be of that mindset. KNOW where you're gift comes from and be thankful for that and I think that will keep u from getting caught up. And therefore, that will keep u from getting into some stupid things not being clearheaded. And that's where this force wants your mind to be so it can snatch u on up away from here. (life). I'm just scratching the surface without getting really into it. But yeah, I agree with what you're saying, definately.

What you've said thusfar is profound and thought provoking. Perhaps, it may give some people something to think about when they get to the crossroads.

If the average person counted the people close to them who have died in the past 15 years, I don't think there'd be much of a difference than Prince. His just gets publicity.
