the following reaction to planet earths tracklisting perhaps sums up prince fans like no other..........

for those of us who have been p fans(call me a fam and ill slap ya) since the'old days'this quote made me laugh-

reaction on housequake on the TEN track album

"wtf only 10 tracks"

my word we are like a bunch of spoilt brats compared to ANY other artist!

i remember back in the day we had a p album every 12months andf that was considered 'prolific"

nowadays we live in aan age of TRC,NPG AUDIO,NEWS,EXPECTATION,BOXED SETS,DOWNLOADS ETC ETC literally etc

and now we moan coz lazy old prince has gone and done a 10 tracker merely a year after 3121

eek

I understand what your saying and totally agree with it. I knew long ago before the club closed that this would be how everyone would respond. I told you once before, you wouldn't know how good you had it,until it was gone. So a lot of people miss the NPGMC and the perks, no surprise to me. People need to learn to appreciate what they have or are given. Besides complaining won't change anything, the change has to come from inside of you.

However, I am always happy with whatever music he shares with us. I think his output is still flowing very well and I hope there is no end to his creativity. I enjoy when he challenges us to think about everything. But I will admit that it can drive me a bit crazy when I can't figure something out. lol I just like surprises and he does that better than anyone else I have seen! thumbs up!

10 tracks Only biggrin ...it depends on the quality of the Tracks!

I always prefer 10 strong songs of great quality instead of 5 good songs from a Bullshit 2 cd Album of 20 new songs!

.....But i doubt a LOT that The planet Earth Album will be as good as we think.....One more Nothing New in the world of Prince since TRC....Maybe neutral !

LadyLuvSexxy

I'd rather have 10 tracks of good, worthy music than to have like...15 and then only dig 5 songs. Or seriously, have nothing at all. I have SO MANY cds like that in my collection. The only exception would be with artists like Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, Remy Shand, Sade, OutKast and..well Prince! No complaints from this fan. lol

The ideal # of tracks on an album is 6-8, in my opinion.

i think between 40 - 45 minutes is a fair length for an album. the only exception i can think of are like weezer or distiller albums, where it's really super high-tempo rock music and they can pack 17 songs into 26 minutes. lol

Well, I don't mind if an album clocks at 30-35 mins, if the music on it is good. I'd rather have a 30 minute eargasm than 60 minutes of so-so material.

i'm just going by my teenaged days when i'd buy a vinyl or CD album and then immediately record it to a 90-minute cassette tape so i could listen to it on my walkman. i always wanted it to be under 45 minutes so i could fit it all on one side, but not too much under 45 minutes so there wouldn't be a lot of dead air for me to fast forward through at the end before i flipped to side b.

yes, OLD SKOOL redface

gen x had to deal with a LOT of different audio/visual formats: vinyl, 8-track, minidisc, cassettes, CD, laser disc, beta, VHS, blah blah blah...it's hard for us to get misty-eyed about gathering around the old victrola, because by the time we were in our early teens, we'd already been through a million replacement components on our stereos! lol

but yeah, cassettes are some fossils...i have a big shoebox full of 'em still, and i don't even know why i keep them.
