Thats the beauty of this thread. Critical appraisal of his work from the music press doesnt necessarily mean the fans think the same. I think there is much greater independence of thought here than reading predictable reviews of Prince's work from the music industry. TRC made the top 10, a real pleasent surprise. It's not in my top 10 but to see it here is kinda refreshing. As for Dirty Mind it may be the album where he became a freak but he became a bigger and better freak later on. It's like the stones, Critics will always praise the "obvious" choices and neglect albums like Black And Blue and even Undercover where fans really dig them. Long live the music fan. | |

I love Dirty Mind and there is no way im gonna vote it off yet. Its like any band people always presume one album is the best but you ask the fans and their opinion is often totally different to the general "perceived" concensus. There was a similar thing done on an ACDC board and everyone was saying Back in Black was gonna win a similar poll and people were genuinely shocked when it was voted off. In fact Powerage was named favourite album. Flick Of The Switch got 5th which was even more staggering! | |
