can someone answer this question about the song production in some prince tracks?

i absolutely love prince but know very little about the details regarding who plays what on which songs etc.. some of my favourite production is on songs like "i would die for you" , "controversy" , "17 days" , things of that nature

anywhere i can find the production credits for his catalog of music ?

Probably the best source I have seen:

Uptown's 2004 book, "The Vault" mock-up

© 2004 UPTOWN

Unfortunately it is currently out of print. It is supposed to be released in a new edition yet this year. You can get updates at www.uptown.se, although it has not been updated in awhile, I have it on decent authority that the book is still coming.

Housequake and the org both have interviews posted that give some insight into production, and always read your liner notes!

I know much of Purple Rain was recorded live, so you can see that line up in the movie.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

The Vault is awesome.

Re; Purple Rain..... some tracks were recorded live at the famous "The Avenue" concert, but even those were seioursly edited and had overdubs added on later (e.g. Purple Rain was shortened and had strings added on).

The movie is a "re-creation" of those live performances, not actual live takes.
