I thought it was 2007 now? That'll be 18 yrs then, still a looong time ago! I got the CD in the round black tin, very cool but hard to stack in my CD rack.... um..maybe i read the title of the thread wrong but doesnt it say '"Batman" was released 18 years ago today'

okay, give two sec and let me do some math... we're in 2007...Batman was released in 1989... 2007 minus 1989 = 18 years... oops, i don't find the same result.. Bah nevermind, that's still long ago!! um..maybe i read the title of the thread wrong but doesnt it say '"Batman" was released 18 years ago today'

Batman is one of my favourite Prince albums. The only problem is that Partyman seems so short on the album - you've got to listen to the 12" version. If you like the album, you should check out the remixes of The Future, Electric Chair and Batdance as well. And the Scandalous Sex Suite. They're all great and they're all on ebay if you wait long enough.
I think Batman came to symbolise the most 'Warner Bros' thing Prince did in his mind, so he pretty much ignored the album after all the 'Slave' stuff. I have a t-shirt from the 1990 tour which has the name of all his albums except that one on it. Which is a shame, because the album has a lot of fine songs that explore dual identities, a bit like a poppier Lovesexy. Batdance really blew us away at the time - it seemed really experimental.

I was almost done with college!
Well it was awesome to be there. Chewymusic and I rocked that a plenty. He made a nice 90 minute cassette with audio from the movie, the singles ...etc. Just listened to it the other day. Loved the clips of him in the studio jammin the bass Electric Chair is on my all time list of songs

I enjoy: "Vicky Waiting"
I told the joke about the woman Who asked her lover "Why is your organ so small?" He replied "I didn't know I was playin' in a cathedral." Vicki didn't laugh at all. makes me smile everytime!

Paula DID NOT do the choreography. She was originally supposed to do it, but something happened where she could not get it done. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Loved the clips of him in the studio jammin the bass Electric Chair is on my all time list of songs aw, thanks for the mention Rev Rocked it a plenty indeed. It was only 9 months after seeing Lovesexy live and of course we were dying for Prince's next move. Bang! Batman. Prince makes the soundtrack to the movie event of the Summer! I remember being at a party and they just kept turning the Batman tape over and over each time a side ended! You know I'm with ya Rev on Electric Chair so cool. On my fav list and in my org signature. Kids at school between classes would sneak up to the chalkboard to write out "Slayer (Satan Laughs As You Eternally Rot)" etc... and there was me drawing Bat Symbols and writing "Batdance. Do it." Yeah, I used to go in to the theater with my HUGE boom box and record the movie on cassette so I could (well listen to the movie at home, of course) and mix more of the movie in to the music. You have to keep in mind how Bat-crazy it was then. And to a 17 year old Prince/Nicholson fan? Yeah. "Hyperactive when I was small, Hyperactive now I'm grown, Hyperactive 'till I'm dead and gone"

The Batman album got me back into Prince at the time. I had been a huge fan for about a year when Purple Rain came out (I was only 9 then) and then forgot about Prince. In 1989 I went to a party where "Let´s Go Crazy" was played and I listened to my Purple Rain album the next morning for the first time in years - and loved it again. I wanted new Prince music and since Batman was the new album at the time, I bought it. I remember liking "Batdance", "The Future" and "Electic Chair", but didn´t like the whole album as much as PR. Fortunately, I bought "1999" and "Sign 'o' the times" next and that was it, I was hooked and stayed hooked until today... See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...
