Z Cult Ear Candy Catch/ "All Those Motherf*$kers"

This is something that I notice the very first time I had ever listened to the song "Free". Go to the chorus after the bridge where P sings

"Will we all fight, for the right to be Free"
During this chorus, where Lisa, Vanity, Jill and Wendy join in, at precisely 3:27, u can hear P sing "All those motherfuckers!". To somewhat camouflage that line, he throws in a guitar note underneath it. But it's clear. U just have to know where to listen. I remember the first time I heard it, as a kid, I was like "Huh?! What did he just say?!" I kept replaying that part, thinking how cool it was that he said that. Well, over the years, it's no doubt that's what P says. Have anybody on here, recall noticing this? I know that there are folks on this site, that although they had NEVER even noticed something before, they still will say, "It's not on there.", without even bothering to check it out. So, this thread is definately not for u. So, to the rest of ya'll, has anybody ever noticed this? And if not, when u have the chance, if of course, u give a shit, go to the 3:27 mark and listen for yourself. Of course, P WORE the words "fuck" and "motherfucking" out on this album. Especially towards the end of "Let's Pretend We're Married".

I've heard what you mean. It's quite hard to hear exactly what he says, but I think you're right. Even if it's hard to make something out of the screaming it does sound like he says "All those motherfuckers are free". Considering that this is Prince it's very likely.

Sorry about that, pill! Really, you're not that crazy about "Free"? Man, I love it. It's one of my fave songs by him, actually. But yeah, he screams "All those motherfuckers" more so than he sings it. That whole section with the Vanity choir, as I call it, his vocal styling, like much of his vocals on this album, is very gospelish. So, right there during the part when the Vanity choir joins in, he goes to church, vocally. It's a trip that he screams that. Like I said earlier, he throws in a little guitar note that he sustains right at the same moment that he screams this. He does this, I feel, to distact the listener from hearing what he's saying. Again, he uses this same concept on a few other places on this album as well.

No problem my friend

But ummmm...nope

Not crazy bout' this tune

Just didn't sound right just after Som'n The Water (Does Not Compute)

Sounds like a filler to me.

But the ending had that Purple Rain/Another Lonely Christmas feel before they even came out...

I'm telling ya'll. That little muthafucka was a trip. Like I posted earlier, the day this album was released, I bought it. The first time I heard this song and that section, I stopped the music and played that part again. And again. I was like "Dang!" I was 13 and I just thought it was the coolest thing cuz you could hear it clear enough to know what he screamed but at the same time, he did such a great job in masking it in the mix. Prince was no joke back then.

Pill, P was so hard that it was spooky. He tapped into something that simply was not there during Dirty Mind. Which was just two years earlier. He literally sounded like a completely different cat. He sounded so much older, for one thing. His natural singing voice, was so much more mature sounding. Compared to his somewhat tinny sounding falsetto on Dirty Mind. I never seen any other artist advance that quickly. P sounded like he was 16 and shit on Dirty Mind compared to this 1999 album. Where he sounded easily like he was 26 or 27. His musicianship, his songwriting, his production, every facet was night and day.

Even as a 20 year old (and younger) P sounded older than he was. Who at that age can compose music like that? Truly astounding. The comparison to Mozart isn't that far fetched, imo.

P, in the 80's, was a pop Mozart.

Huh. I never noticed that. I've been listening to it over and over (not with headphones, though, just on my computer speakers) and I kind of hear it and kind of don't. That is, he could be saying that or just kind of freestyle vocalizing.

But full disclosure: It was seriously like more than 10 years of listening to It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night a LOT before I noticed the "can't nobody fuck with us" part. I've probably missed out on a bunch of Prince's F bombs.

See, that's what's cool about this thread. Or should be cool. It's something that ya'll could go look for, all the while wondering, "is this blackguitaristz guy....what the fuck is he talking about?" You know? Then you can listen for something that you may have never noticed before, in a song that you all know. For some of you, have known for over 20 years. If you hear it or not. Me personally, I love shit like that. The potential of finding something new in something that you have lieten to or have seen for so many years and just discovering it....yeah, I LOVE that stuff. That's the only reason I did this thread. Sharing a type of "thing" that I myself like.

Your welcome. Someone orged me before and said that they were surprised that more people hadn't posted. I told them I wasn't surprised at all. I KNEW before hand that it would pretty much be like this. That's why I even mentioned what I did in the actual thread. Sometimes, folks, especially if they consider themselves to be fans of an artist and then someone else mentions something that they may never ever even heard before, that might be a drag. And also, it depends on who their hearing it from as well. They could go and find it out it out to be true and still won't post, especially if they already have a problem with the author of the thread. For whatever the reason. Which is cool. Whatever. The telling part and more accurate part is how many "views" a thread gets. More times than not, when a thread isn't appealing in the least, folks won't even open it up. Like, u could bet the farm that I'm not going to view a thread about P having a nice ass. No interest there on my part so, I'm not even going to "view" it. Also, when a thread has been up for awhile and then all of a sudden, someone posts responding to another post by another orger, then that shows obvious interest on there part because they've been "spying" on the thread all along. Which is something else u won't do when u have no geniune interest in the topic. You won't secretly follow it.

Blackguitaristz is right about Prince trying to "distract" listeners on this album....trying to hide what he's really saying. On the song "Automatic",when he says "I'll go down on U...all night",notice the cymbal clash...as if he's trying to hide that dirty lyric, lol.

He's good at hiding things... The weirdest thing is that, at least for me, what I can hear in his songs changes from time to time. Last week I could definitely hear him use the word MF in the song and now I can't hear it at all. Maybe I just need my ears examined...hmm
