Corsets for Men....

The use and wear of corsets by men historically was not an uncommon practice. Not only did it provide sturdy back support for activities such as riding and hunting, but it also created the very narrow waist, broad shouldered look that men's fashions of the day dictated.

Today male corsetry still exists... for some of the same reasons men corseted in the past as well as many other physical, spiritual, and erotic reasons.

Also, the male waistline typically will fall lower than the female waistline. This fact becomes important when we determine your reasons and desired effects from corseting. If you want to retain a more masculine silhouette we will keep the waist line at a lower position, and in contrast, to achieve a more feminine shape we will create a higher waistline to shape you into a more true female form.

It's funny...people talking about this corset thing. Doesn't anyone remember the "LoveSexy" period? I mean, I remember watching parts of that concert DVD (Germany) where he was performing in what appeared to be a skirt, white tights, and a bow in his hair. All of a sudden, it's shocking people that Prince is wearing (what isn't even confirmed to be) a corset...and he's trying to be a girl??

I was thinking about the times when it was normal for men to wear corsets, like you mentioned in your post, and that maybe P was trying to dress like they did - kind of like he did in the 80s.

Maybe the li'l fella's tryin' to hide his l'il beer gut.

That picture is Photoshopped obviously but you should read up on the history of corsets and high heels they werre originally made by men for MEN. No

Yeah this whole new thing Prince has started with mixing gender roles is really starting 2 make me uncomfortable.

wait, i don't think he pioneered gender roles. check out David Bowie's video for "boys keep swinging"

its not that bad. its a corset for god's sake. at least he wears them outside his clothing (from the PE photo). i'd be more worried if he had been wearing them under clothing for a while and not saying anything. it doesn't mean he's tryin to be a girl.

Men in the entertainment industry get makeup done all the time for social events- that doesn't make them feminine.
