Prince #14 in Blender's 100 days that changed music. I was just flipping through the July 2007 edition of Blender. There's a list of the 100 days that changed music. October 8, 1980 placed 14th. I would agree that many days of his life changed music, but their choice was very... interesting. They used a picture of this picture of him playing guitar in the DM outfit, and about the most exposing one there is (legs spread apart if u know which one I mean)(I couldn't figure out how to add it to this forum). Below it was a caption: "Cower before my man-panties!" Anyways, here's the article.
Prince Poses in Black Undies Until this point, Prince had been just another upstart R&B singer. With the cover of his third album, Dirty Mind- a black and white shot of him giving the camera a come-hither look, wearing bikini briefs, a jacket, a bandana, and nothing else, and standing in front of an abstract design that looks a lot like bedsprings- he became something else. It looked (and the album sounded) like a new-wave record, and it delivered two clear messages. One was "I don't fit into an category anybody wants to put me in." The other was "I am coming the f*@# you, right now" The combination worked well for Prince for the better part of 20 years. "The truth is that we don't even know what the world will be like until we shake things up a little bit" | |
