Prince not performing this week...

When someone post the detail of Prince's contracts or how much money he gets paid 2 do certain things like the concerts atthe Roosevelt Hotel, do u think posting those details has any posistive or negative IMPACT on Prince short or long term? Do u think it impacts any deals in the future? Yes or no?

well, most "news" like that comes with a press link, so is your question whether or not those types of things should ever be reported in the press? Or simply about us here discussing it?

I don't think it has an impact one way or the other.

If it's something like the Hampton event, then it's good for marketing reasons...to show what he can bring in etc...
If it's a charity event, then it's good, as well.

I don't think the rest really matters. Not for Prince anyway. Everyone knows that he'll do a show for $31.00, but that he can also draw that Hampton crowd. So it shouldn't effect future negotiations too badly, if at all. Also, if there's something that he truly wants to be kept private, it probably wouldn't be available to be posted in the first place.

I think it has a negative impact if the deal is NOT finalized, such as the Roosevelt performances. For instance, maybe the different "sponsors" didn't know what each was putting up. I would think that would hamper negotiations.

Well I can't say if it would have a positive or negative effect;if it has a negative effect then the fault should be on the inside person(s) leaking that info to the press or other outside sources. It would be obvious that they need to make sure these meetings are done in full secrecy, but I guess that would be hard because somehow the info always gets leaked...just my 2 cents.

No and NO, to answer the two questions.
First off, news sources aren't always reliable nor accurate with data. I don't trust them, much less change my opinion of him. This is a democracy, and he's entitled to earn whatever he can get.
Secondly, providing he doesn't do anything to tarnish his current image and work ethic, he'll always be successful. He has a steady, loyal fan base, and is a guaruanteed $$$ maker for whomever he does business with.

Yes. There seems 2 be a concerted effort 2 post every little detail of every event instead of trying 2 just ENJOY the events themselves. Why is that?

That's a whole different question. Org talk seems to be mainly speculation...filling in the space until there's actually something to talk about.

If Prince has a problem with orgers talking/speculating about all the minute details, maybe he should work out a compromise...unspoken even. You know, like say a new track appears for the org...That might stop the speculation for a week or so.

I think we should test this theory. Today.

I don't think it matters, when the news features any celebrity in an article, it will eventually call out how much money that person is making. When FORBES magazine publishes its annual Wealthiest Celebrity 100 list, its one of their most popular selling issues of the year, if you include casual buyers who never read FORBES in the first place.

My answer is NO, regular folks will always be curious about how much a celebrity makes, the fun never stops.

Thanks for clarifying. Tell whomever is asking that this is not unusual. For example, you could do a search and discover what many A-list entertainers are being paid. I can understand why someone whouldn't want the figures disclosed, but credible news agencies report this info frequently. When Denzel Washington or Madonna go into negotiations with the suits, I seriously doubt that what they reportedly earned on another deal would give that much leverage to the other side, especially the reports on a fansite for goodness sakes!

Now if industry insiders are spilling the beans, that's a different story. That would be a much more credible information source than Prince.Org.

"Mr. Nelson, we read on the .Org that you were paid "X" amount for that show". C'mon. I mean really?

Prince is in the A-list league and his negotiating position is strong, regardless. Where is anybody going to find another Prince?

As to why people are interested in such things, who knows? Everything from his wife to his underwear is discussed here disbelief what can I tell ya?

1. Can you give some examples of where there seems to be a 'concerted effort'?

I can see no apparent evidence of two or more people working together to do what you have described ... but some links would help illustrate your concerns.

2. I don't see where people are posting 'every little detail' instead of trying to enjoy events.

Where details are posted, I would generally expect the motivation be to inform people, and certainly not as a means of detracting from someone's enjoyment of an event.

Even if this were to be a motive, then most people have enough sense to form an opinion based on the range of information available, and their own intelligence.

http://www.hotelchatter.c...his_Friday

We got a bit excited, as did seemingly everyone in the music and celeb blogosphere, that Prince would be starting up a seven-week gig of Friday night shows at the infamous Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

Last we heard, the contracts were in the process of being finalized and the first show date was set for this Friday, June 15.

Yet a reliable HotelChatter tipster informed us that Prince will not be singing/cooking/playing jazz/shooting hoops with guests this Friday. Our source maintains that nothing is official in regards to Prince playing at the hotel, but everyone involved is optimistic.

Furthermore, the above photo of a marquee touting that "the Revolution was just around the corner" was actually taken over a year ago when Prince performed at the hotel during Amanda Scheer-Demme's reign--remember her?

None of this means Prince, won't do a series of shows at the Roosevelt Hotel, we still think he will, or are at least still extremely hopeful he will, however, don't get in line this Friday--there will be no show.

Meanwhile, LAist has speculated that ticket prices will contain Prince's favorite numbers 3121, like $3,121 for one ticket. We're hoping he picks the wallet-friendly price of $31.21 instead.
