I'm juiced again! You know how sometimes all things Princey get kinda ho-hum & you're like
Well today I got juiced again - no upcoming show prompting me, no tv performance relighting my fire ('cause I missed the ALMA thing)... Just a recording that I hadn't pulled out in a while but it came across my ITunes as I was fiddling around the house: "How long you been waitin'?" ... "Well I'm about to make it up to you..." Joy in Rep from the "It Ain't Over" cd of ONA Live There's something about his voice that just... wets... me... It took me back to every aftershow I've been to just waiting for him to give me the ass-kicking I so desperately NEED RIGHT NOW (hello??? can the Bay get some aftershow love already??)... It took me back to reading the reports of that very show & how hot & hellish it was in that room & how they waited FOREVER & bitches were sweaty & funky & passing OUT... & then they got this 'cause he really did make it up to them in a big mf'in' way & then we all got it!! I'm SO glad to have a clean, authentic release of this little kickass gem, it's fucking mindblowing every time I hear it. So yes, I'm juiced again on lil man. Too bad there are no shows coming up Maybe I'll head down to LA or something And please, no comments about the solo being unfocused or any bullshit like that - I break my neck on that solo each & every time, it's KILLER! So keep that purist musician shit in yo ass! How about you tell me this: what's the last P song that took you from to . [Edited 6/11/07 6:15am]

I LOVE that JIR!! I'm at a point where I'd like the Princey juices flowing. I'm in a bit of a doldrum Prince-wise at this moment. Too much stuff going on IRL. I think the SuperBowl was my last spontaneous Prince juiced moment. So many different reasons....I get just thinking about it. I'm firmly planted in denial

There is the little 1 and a half minute version of Tambourine that he played at one of the Musicology aftershows that I am absolutely in love with.

The super-funked up version of 'Girls & Boys' he played at the Koko gig last month...
Oh. My. GOD. I've always liked the song but it's never been a particular favourite - if I'm listening to the album and it's next in line, I'll listen to it. But I hardly ever make a beeline for it. After that gig, however... It totally changed my perspective. I pray, pray, pray that that gig emerges somewhere, if only for that one track. I was completely blown away.

Or listen to a particular track for the first time in ages... Or, in this case, hear a live version of a song you've heard hundreds of times and - BANG! - instant famdom all over again. Seriously, how I didn't cause a one-man stampede I'll never know. I danced my ass off. I am praying he plays a similar version on this tour.

I swear, I don't think any artist in the world has music that can affect you so many years later like Prince does, isn't he wonderful?

A couple of weekends ago in Detroit...the old school station Mix 92.3 did an old school battle between Michael Jackson and Prince. They were cheating though because they kept playing stuff from the Jackson's and the Jackson 5.
I called the radio station from my truck and put them on blast and told them to play some of Prince's 12 inches then if they're gonna cheat. Well, they played Little Red Corvette, the dance mix and I nearly lost my mind. I pulled up in front of my studio in downtown Berkley at 11:30 at night and got out the truck dancing and wouldn't go in until the song ended. If you live in the Detroit area, you already know the kind of looks I got that I didn't give a damn about! Prince won, btw and I've been juiced ever since!
