Sheila, for the simple fact that no matter how great Blackwell is, there's never really been any "magic" made with his drumming contributions to Prince's music.

watch the drum solo from the SOTT movie. magic.

Dez Dickerson was not a drummer he was a guitarist

Well, technically he was a guitarist,

was a modernaire.

Sheila E.

Blackwell was great too, but sometimes a bit too showy

for my taste.

Nothing tops the chemistry Prince and Sheila had,

in my opinion.

michael b. i aint got no time for this Cora vs Sheila. Michael B was the greatest choice. John Blackwell was a good choice also.

The title of this thread is "Prince's greatest choice of drummer." I have stated my opinion that Michael B was Prince's greatest choice for a drummer. That has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not Cora plays well.

Michael B. used to be my favorite. Until I realized it was just the thrill of hearing someone beat the living shit out of the skins, rather than actual drumming skill. That's good for what it is, but it doesn't take you (or the music) very far. And you'll notice, a lot of Michael B's drumming on record was sampled. confused

Honestly, Michael B. was hands down the best drummer Prince has ever and will have. Powerful, dynamic, passionate. Michael Bland has my vote all the way.
