A rocker that doesn't really rock. Just as boring as Fury. Same kind of vocal style, too. A song like this works if you've actually come up with an interesting lick. I don't hear it here. Disappointing.

I don't expect Prince to be as fecund as he was in the 80s. Almost nobody ever has been. But, the answer may be to wait a few years before cobbling together an album. He could also do some interesting stuff like the rumored Beatles album I'd heard he was going to release. These days you're lucky to get 1 or 2 keepers on a Prince album.

I'm reading some of your posts now. What other "funkier" version are you all talking about? Where can I hear it? Somebody wrote that this was like Cream or Girls & Boys. Huh? Are we listening to the same song?

The quality of the Vibe mp3 is better than the Verizon mp3. When u look at the tag in media player, it is referred to as "Guitar Mastered" and it is at 320Kb.

i must admit, the Verizon ad is WORKING. i'm a limited TV watcher and radio listener and i seem to catch the ad often. it makes me want it. i think it'll be familiar to people when/if radio starts playing it. the rock station here in Detroit played Loose when Come was out, we'll see what happens.

but i'm one of those people who like the original version better. it's kinda quirky and funky in a way that detracts from the riff-verse-riff format. i didn't buy it, so i'm regretting the possibility of not having it to contrast. maybe that's what he'll send to urban radio.

The guitar work is great. The song is OK. It's paint-by-numbers Prince. We've heard it before, but much, much better. I don't hear much inspiration to do anything out of the ordinary or truly great. He could write 20 songs that sound just like that in about 20 mintues.

But, if it gets new people to listen to his music, then great.

I'll shut up, don't want to be a killjoy for everyone.

Enjoy.

You're not killing my joy because I agree. The more I hear it the more I wish it was an instrumental. shrug

I just saw the commercial. After listening to the whole song I love it!I just don't see it becoming a big hit. These days what the younger crowd likes is what determines if something is a hit. Now these days it has to be hip hop oriented.Although "Guitar" is much better than that crap they play on the radio.

Guitar is a great song. It's fast paced, fun, and has great guitar playing. What more would you want?

And regarding what radio station will play it, who cares? I don't know anybody who listens to the radio, or watches tv anymore. I don't even subscribe to mtv, vh1, bet, or fuse. Whether it's a hit or not is irrelevant, because the music industry is in free fall anyway.
