Just heard "Guitar" on the radio

I just heard "Guitar" on KJLH in LA. They are playing the version that came out in Feb (I'll take that!)!

Let's keep it going. Request it at ur local stations (ALL FORMATS)!!

KJLH is Urban AC so I can see why they chose to play the original "less guitar" version.

makes me wonder if hes sending out the original version to Urban (R&B) stations and the rock version to Top 40 / Hot AC

KJLH tries to be "RADIO FREE" meaning they will play what they want to play. I have heard everything from John Mayer to Barrett Stron on their station. Especially on Thursday, Stevie Wonder always pulls out some crazy stuff for his show. Email their pd at aundrae@kjlhradio.com . He's a cool cat and always plays the request at least ONCE.

One thing i dont really get: quite a lot of people seem to compare the guitar riffing on the new version of Guitar with that on I will follow from U2.

The used notes might be a bit similar, but the way Prince 'touches' his strings, his timing dont sound U2-ish at all.

I mean: I will follow fits in the 'white' New-wave rock sound prominent in that period, while Princes style on Guitar harks back to the sound of soul-inspired 'black' rock guitarists like Jimmy Hendrix and Eddie Hazel.

Personally i think its pure coincidence that Guitar reminds some people of I will follow.

KJLH is also the least listened to station in L.A. They always play new Prince songs so nothing out of the ordinary there.

Talk to me when 'Guitar' is played on KIIS FM or HOT 92 JAMS... until then talk to the hand
I wish u heaven

U2 didn't come up with that riff. But I have to admit I immediately thought of I Will Follow after hearing Guitar.
