Sleep around Hi,
I love this song, and wanted to know what U think about it. Wanted to know to, if he did ever release it in concert, celebration, or party in Paisley.

Cool song; could do with a bit of editing, though.
The 'Oprah' version was MUCH better than the album version IMO

Love it, one of my favs from Emancipation.
He did perform it in concert, yes, during the Jam of the Year tour, which I had the pleasure of seeing. I'm sure there are live versions circulating. Doves, Mel!ssa

The 'Oprah' version was MUCH better than the album version IMO Yeah, this would have killed as a single. Of course, it would be edited, a good amount of the singles were.

Oh man!!
I really don't like this one at all. I actually like most of the songs he released on any of his albums, but this is definitely not one I play for my friends. As far as Emancipation Dance Tracks are Concerned, I think Slave, New World, and Human Body are all better than this stinker. Course, it seems as though most people like this one, so what do I know? Come to think of it, I am not crazy about Emancipation. When I first got it I absolutely loved it, couldn't play enough of it, but I find it very tired now. If I do listen to it these days, I find myself skipping many tracks. Good albums, you don't skip tracks. I think if Emancipation was trimmed down to a double album, or maybe... MAYBE a single album it would be killer. A single album might end up having to cut some tracks I liked on it. Yeah, a double album would've been nice. Still have body, without filler/similar sounding songs. [This message was edited Mon Sep 23 12:37:44 PDT 2002 by savoirfaire] "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. I LOVE THIS SONG
He played it a number of times at parties at the Park before the Jam Of The Year tour. I through a bunch of big house parties around the time of Emancipation. In the mix tapes I'd make to play, I'd deliberately drop new Prince songs in sporadically to insure that the dance floor would occasionally clear and we could clean up spills/refill drinks/etc... Sleep Around was the only new cut I played that didn't clear people off the floor. People would actually come into dance to this song... I think it would've been such a big single...ahhh the mismanagement of Emancipaton still makes me cry

Yes he was nutz not to release this as a single and let it hit the dance clubs.
He should let Ricky Martin do a cover --at least he get some money/accolades for the songwriting.

I don't like it, simply because it sounds like something that would be played over and over again at Gap or Old Navy. I mean, like, where is the sun?

I've always felt that this song should have been the first single from 'Emancipation'.With it's catchy hook and killer dance groove, this would have been a smash.A colorful,well-choreographed music video is all it needed. It probably would have done well in clubs too.

This song always reminded me of a George Michael type sound. I can imagine George doing a version of Sleep Around. I like the song too. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

I hate it. It's cheesy step areobics music. Should have never been on Emancipation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'll play it first and tell you what it is later. -Miles Davis-

Hans told me that Prince worked on this song for two weeks, the longest he'd ever seen him work on any one song. Made him not wanna hear it again for a looong time! -SWANGgoingtoplaySleepAround

Cool song. There's a lot worse on Emancipation. The title track for one, Sex in the summer, courtin' time and let's have a baby are all

This song was BEGGIN to be a hit. There's no doubt that this would have changed everything for Prince. The song still makes me dance when I listen to it. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Swang - I thought that was 'The Human Body'?
I read somewhere that THAT was the longest track he'd ever worked on, and it was something like a 30 hour recording session??
