This morning on my iPod, this version of Jerk Out came on I didn't even know I had!!!


I was like "is this a cover version"? Anyway, I realized it must be the unreleased demo. So I can hear Prince singing on the chorus....

but who is doing the lead raps on the verse? It doesn't sound like Prince. And it sounds too deep to be Morris. It almost sounds like Jesse?

Also, there is a different verse in there too, something about "I didn't care cuz she was white" and he ends up calling the woman a "b*tch" too.

THe instrumentaion is a bit different.

And at the end, instead of going "Everbody say Kool-Aid!" they say "Everybody say 'Vanity'" which was interesting.

So which version is the one I heard? With this exgtra verse and non-prince/non Morris lead vocal?

The song was originally intended for (the 1982) The Time's 'What Time Is It?' album. For some reason, it didn't make the album. It was later given to Mazarati for possible use on their debut self-titled album (in 1985). It was recorded and later turned down due to some controversial lyrics. Then, it finally saw the light of day in 1990 on The Time's last album. This song gave The Time, their first number one hit song.
