3121 has sold about 700,000 copies in the US , and it also went to number one on the world chart and the euro chart. I cant see any reason for it not hittin the 1.5 million mark.

Look, I know of what I speak. I'm not talking about RIAA certifications at all. Those generally mean nothing because a) they are based on units SHIPPED not sold, and b) it's up to the record label to apply for those. If no one chooses to do so then they never get updated. Also, you do realize that RIAA awards are only for US sales, right? 3121 wouldn't get a platinum award for worldwide shipments, it would only get a gold one for US data. Indeed, here's link from Prince.org itself indicating sales for week 16 of 3121's US chart run, according to Soundscan/Billboard and indicates it having sold 467,964 as of last July, almost a year ago. Those figures, also, don't include sales through retail outlets that don't report electronicly. So, it's very safe to say that 3121 has well surpassed 500K in the US by now even just looking at those figures. http://www.prince.org/msg/7/195233

Actually, the last figures I have for Musicology is that it sold approximately 1 million in the US and 500K internationally for a 1.5m worldwide total. Approximately 1 million additional copies were "sold/given away" w/concert tickets for a grand total of 2.5 million. This was as of April of last year... I'm not sure how well Musicology sold after that. [Edited 6/11/07 22:51pm]
